Actor Bradley Cooper will star in a movie about slain Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle, who was killed by a trouble Iraq war veteran earlier this month, the New York Post reports.

A mental health advocate and star of the hit movie "Silver Linings Playbook," Cooper will also produce the film. Cooper's production team reportedly bought the rights to Kyle's best-selling book "American Sniper." Following Kyle's death, it was determined that the script would be rewritten to include the tragedy.

On Feb. 2, 2012, Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield were allegedly shot and killed by Eddie Ray Routh, who was apparently struggling with PTSD. The three men went to a shooting range at Rough Creek Lodge in Glen Rose, Texas.

Despite inaccurate media reports, Kyle was not trying to "treat" Routh for his condition; he was just trying to be a brother to his fellow veteran. Routh has been charged with murder.
