Saudi Royals and Iranian Mullahs Were Co-Conspirators in Sept. 11

Exposed: Shiite Mullahs supported the Sunni Sept. 11 hijackers and continue to support al Qaeda.

This is the first part in a two-part series on the Iranian and Saudi role in Sept. 11, 2001 and what the means for the Western world.

Recent news reports and declassified documents show that both the Mullahs running Iran and even some Saudi Royals were not only involved in the planning of Sept. 11, but both Shiite and Sunni leadership continue to aid and abet America’s most lethal enemy, al Qaeda. Documents are surfacing that prove that the Shiite Mullahs provided safe haven, intelligence assistance, secure communications, training in explosives, and airline hijacking for the Sunni Sept. 11 hijackers.

This is the first in a two-part column which will expose these highly covered-up stories and will attempt to conclude what it means for this administration as it attempts to obfuscate its policy failures while it retreats from a mounting, emboldened Islamic threat. It is the fusion of Sunni and Shiite in Islam’s war against the West that is new in the modern era. For the first time in 14 centuries of Islamic aggression against the West, both the Shiite leadership in Iran, some Sunni leadership in Riyadh and Sunni jihadists not only conspired on Sept. 11 but continue to plot the destruction of the U.S. Moreover, with the reelection of this president, both branches of radical Islam are emboldened precisely because they view him as their unwitting partner.

Saudi Secrets

Recently two congressmen, Walter Jones (R-N.C.) and Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.) read the redacted 28 pages of the “foreign sponsorship” section of the Sept. 11 Commission Report. Reports indicate that the two lawmakers walked away “absolutely shocked.” In response, they have authored the resolution H.R. 428 urging the president to declassify the report.

The families of the Sept. 11 victims, who have been relentlessly demanding to know who plotted and killed their loved ones are likely to continue to be disappointed. But some of the redacted information continues to leak out and it points to high-level complicity within the Royal Palaces in Riyadh. Obama will not risk doing any further damage to an already fraying alliance.

Iranian Not-So-Secret Secrets

In March 2013, the U.S. government announced that Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, Osama bin Laden’s son-in-law and spokesman was arrested in Jordan and is awaiting trial in New York City. While the logic of providing such a high-level terrorist the full protections and benefits of the American legal system escapes military scholars, what has become crystal clear is that al Qaeda’s number two man, Abu Ghaith, had been living in Iran for 10 years. After the fall of the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2002, he immediately began taking credit for attacks in Tunisia and Kenya, all as Iran’s special guest.

It will be one more stain on the Obama record and the intelligences services reporting to him if as president. His obsession to undo all that was Bush by appeasing Iran and by trying enemy combatants in U.S. civilian courts, prevents the U.S. from uncovering the next major attack on the West. Potentially thousands of American lives are at stake in order to gratify his ultra-partisan desire to be the non-Bush.

The Secret Files from the bin Laden Raid

Thomas Joscelyn, Senior Fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, in his recent article, "Partners  in Terror, Iran, al Qaeda, and the secret bin Laden tapes," writes:

“…hundreds of thousands of documents and files were recovered during the raid that killed bin Laden in May of 2011. The Obama administration has just released 17 of them. The documents released were chosen by the White House officials to push their preferred spin: Osama bin Laden’s al Qaeda is on the verge of extinction. Many documents that contradict this politicized narrative remain behind a classified wall.”

Evidence that al Qaeda had found safe haven in Iran and had metastasized throughout the Middle East and Africa did not comport with the president’s 2012 campaign boast which held that the terrorists who attacked us on Sept. 11 had been decimated. But this is an administration which cannot shoot straight.

In December  2011, the State Department announced a $10 million reward for Yasin al-Suri who heads up al Qaeda’s Iran-based network responsible for a pipeline which funnels operatives and weapons from around the Middle East to Afghanistan and Pakistan. Operating out of Iran, al-Suri is one of America’s most wanted men.

It’s Now Clear, Both Branches of Radical Islam Believe They Can Roll the West

While Iran continues to make war on the U.S. through its Sunni proxies, in Geneva this month, the John Kerry-led, Neville Chamberlain-like western coalition granted a relaxation of sanctions against Iran in exchange for a miniscule slowdown of its decades-long drive to possess nuclear weapons. Immediately, Iran’s President Hasan Rouhani gleefully tweeted:

With the ink still drying on the accord, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, explained to "CNN’s" Jim Sciutto that, contrary to what Washington claimed, “Iran did not agree to dismantle anything.”

Next Zarif flew to Nabatiye, Lebanon to lay a wreath at the exhibit of a mass murderer of Americans, Imad Mugniyeh. Like so much of what happens within Muslim citadels, Zarif’s selection of the Lebanese terrorist Mugniyeh for special recognition, so soon after the Geneva accord, was meant to send an unambiguous message to the world of terror, both Shiite and Sunni. The message—“We are winning. They are losing.”

The Life of Mugniyeh

I write in my book, "Lessons from Fallen Civilizations":

“In February 2008, Imad Mugniyeh was blown into globs of protoplasm by a car bomb on a well-to-do Damascus street in close proximity to the Syrian intelligence offices.  His long and storied terrorist career was made possible by the ascendancy of Tehran as the world’s headquarters for Muslim Terrorism.”

Lebanese born, Mugniyeh was an elite member of the Qods Force, a special branch of the Revolutionary Guards that carried out foreign terrorist operations. Equally comfortable in working with both Sunni and Shiite terrorist cells, he was the mastermind behind the Oct. 23, 1983 simultaneous truck bombings against French paratroopers and the U.S. Marine barracks, attacks which killed 58 French soldiers and 241 Marines. The United States indicted him for the June 14, 1985 hijacking of TWA Flight 847, which resulted in the death of U.S. Navy diver Robert Stethem.

Mugniyeh was also linked to numerous kidnappings of Westerners in Beirut through the 1980s, including Terry Anderson, and William Buckley, who was the CIA station chief in Beirut. Some of his targets were later killed, such as Buckley, who was brutally beaten to death. Mugniyeh coordinated the Khobar Towers bombing in 1996, which killed 19 Americans.

For 25 years he was the point man for Iran’s spectacular attacks against Israel and the U.S. He is the man responsible for killing more Americans than any other Muslim outside of bin Laden.  Iran’s Foreign Minister laid a wreath at his grave becauseperhapshe is the most important modern terrorist in that he was the ambassador which unified both Sunni and Shiite on the 9/11 attacks.
