I was curious about that statement, so I read up on it. A couple things pop out:<\/p>\n

- A little over 50% of Trump’s supporters have only a high school diploma or less, which corresponds to having 2-3x the unemployment rate of college-educated voters. He also gets over 35% of his support from voters making less than $50k (versus 16% for Romney). He only gets 11% of his support from those making $100k+ (again versus 16% for Romney).<\/p>\n

- Obama’s voters were 73% college-educated, while only about 25% made < $50k.<\/p>\n

All in all, Trump supporters appear less educated, lower earning, and less employed than Obama’s!<\/p>\n

Obama got 47% of his support from those with bachelor’s degrees or higher. Romney got 47% too. Trump gets 19%. Obama also won 55% of those with postgraduate degrees, versus 42% for Romney, and no data there for Trump. <\/p>\n

Having fewer degrees doesn’t necessarily mean Trump’s voters are dumber. However, it does mean that Trump’s voters skew less educated, lower earning, and less employed.<\/p>\n
