The latest news from Gallup isn’t good news for the Obama administration and its progressive base of supporters. Although an astounding 71% of self-reported Democrats think America should tax the rich to redistribute wealth, the majority of Independents and Republicans stand in their way.

Among the more interesting breakdowns of the survey data is the differing opinions among men and women and various ethnic groups, with the clear majority of non-white Americans favoring redistribution of wealth.  Not surprisingly, the poorest Americans heavily favor the Obama meme:
