So presidential candidate Michele Bachmann suffers migraine headaches. The Daily Caller has all the juicy journalistic details in a piece breathlessly headlined “Stress-related condition ‘incapacitates’ Bachmann; heavy pill use alleged.”

Bachmanns so looney she suffers from migraines and pops pills

Pain relief

All that’s missing is the exclamation point.

“She has terrible migraine headaches. And they put her out of commission for a day or more at a time. They come out of nowhere, and they’re unpredictable,” says an adviser to Bachmann who was involved in her 2010 congressional campaign. “They level her. They put her down. It’s actually sad. It’s very painful.”

I have little legitimate reason to be stressed about life, yet I’ve gotten migraines since I was a kid. They can be debilitating and they can last all day. Jeff Tweedy of Wilco once wrote, “As a kid, I did miss a lot of school because I would periodically dehydrate myself — I would vomit a lot with each migraine and it would be really hard to stop. It would often continue that way for hours and hours — 12 hours sometimes.”

I also pop over-the-counter pills to help me deal with the symptoms. I doubt I’m alone.

Why does any of this matter in Bachmann’s case? Well, “sources” who spoke to The Daily Caller “are terrified about the impact the condition could have on Bachmann’s performance if she actually became president.” Oh, so they’re really just patriots. It’s interesting that the three sources for the story all refuse to go on the record and confirm something as innocuous as the fact that Bachmann gets headaches. Do any of these sources work for the campaign of another GOP presidential hopeful? Do all three?

And anyway, if a president can perform his duties with a debilitating golf addiction, the occasional migraine is nothing to worry about.
