Politics ‘NUTS!’: Allen West slaps down ‘anti-Muslim’ complaints from CAIR

In a letter to Rep. Allen West, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) recently encouraged the Florida Republican to denounce so-called “anti-Muslim activists,” including conservative blogger Pamela Geller and Lebanese-American author Brigitte Gabriel — you know, because taking a strong stance against Muslim extremism makes you “anti-Muslim.”

West didn‘t hesitate in responding to CAIR’s demands with a simple and not-so-subtle rebuff: “NUTS!”

In case you’re not familiar with the history behind this inspired response, let me explain. In December 1944, America’s 101st Airborne Division was tasked with defending Bastogne, Belgium, from advancing German forces in the Battle of the Bulge. When the Germans demanded the Americans’ surrender after warning they were surrounded, Commanding General Anthony McAuliffe responded to the ultimatum with a single-word reply: “NUTS!”

The Americans ultimately held the line in defending Bastogne during World War II.  From the looks of it, Allen West continues to be committed in defending America from radical Islam.
