If you’re an Apple fan, the following video is a must-see. Below, watch an extremely young Steve Jobs introduce the first Macintosh computer back in 1984 (to provide a frame a reference on just how long ago this was, I was an infant at the time).
A far cry from the sleek Mac computers we’re using today, it’s hard to imagine this giant, box-shaped unit could instill excitement within its audience. But, at the time, the unique invention certainly did just that.

Aug. 25, 2011 at 3:35pmMy freshman year in college, 1985, I brought a Commodore 64 to school. My roommate brought a Macintosh. I had never seen one. I was blown away. Everyone in the dorm ended up using his Mac to type up their papers – font manipulation was unknown by professors back then. I also remember us taking turns typing sentences on it and having it speak them back to us. Of course I can’t repeat those sentences here. And I spent way too much time playing ‘Balance of Power’ on his Mac. My roommate always had to kick me off when he wanted to get anything done on it. Ah, the memories!

Aug. 25, 2011 at 9:53amI have always respected Apple folks, and there was much which was revolutionary. However, it is helpful to remember that Apple as a computer company was within 90 days of BK at one point. What ultimately made the company was not its computers, which are effectively a boutique sideline, but the iPod, iPhone, and now iPad. Bobbles for Boomers.

Aug. 25, 2011 at 8:49amRemember it well. This was huge. I had a TRS-80 model III at the time and this was the computer everyone wanted. I also remember the big brother superbowl commercial.
Today the stuff that Mac was doing seems cheesy, but back then this was a huge leap for the personal computer. Also dig the Chariots of Fire sound track.
