Yeah! How are they not like the tea party!!??? Like when the Tea Party had 700 people arrested in one day that time!??? Remember that? Oh yeah–and when the first official communique from the Tea Party came from a terrorist???
Stewart brings up such a brilliant point.
Sure, Occupy Wall St. has a lot of people committing crimes–but so did the Tea Party (that the modern day Tea Party was named after, not the current one. The Tea Party Express has had 301 events with zero arrests.)
And yes, Occupy Wall St. is admittedly modeling itself after movements to overthrow governments in a transition to a new “radical democracy.” But, so was the Tea Party (that the modern day Tea Party was named after, not the current one. They’re trying to elect more conservative candidates, cut spending, and shrink government.)
And sure–Occupy Wall St. is a movement about America that wasn’t even started by an American citizen or group. But, neither was the Tea Party (that the modern day Tea Party was named after, not the current one. I mean, the old school Tea Party was made up of a bunch of British people!)
If you just ignore a couple of centuries of human history, and compare modern day events to things that happened before the nation even existed –you’ve got yourself a carbon copy! So good to see Stewart isn’t getting lazy or anything.
