Rick Perry was the second presidential contender to speak at the “Values Voter Summit” in Washington, D.C, on Friday. He touted his economic record as governor of Texas, touched on border security and took what seemed to be a swipe at Mitt Romney.
“For some candidates, ‘pro-life’ is an election year slogan,” Perry said. Romney has faced criticism for contradictory statements he’s made on abortion as governor of Massachusetts and as a candidate for president.
Perry also said that all voters are “values voters.” The difference is, he said, “whose values?”

Posted on October 7, 2011 at 4:21pmI think it is funny that Perry would say something like this considering his flip-flops. What he doesn‘t want people to know about Romney is that he had a ’conversion’ to a pro-life stance before he ran for governor, yes he was still working through it when he battled his opponent for the governorship, he spoke about this in multiple interviews in 2007-2008. As a campaign pledge in Mass. he promised to keep the status quo with gay rights and abortion. (That seems like a negative) BUT when he became governor he stood up against the courts trying to give gays the right to marry. Wrote a strong article in the WSJ and stood strong against bills trying to furthering gay rights. Then with abortion, he vetoed bills such as the morning after pill, Mass leg. overturned him, so he wrote a bill protecting faith based hospitals.
When he left the governorship, until today, he has been actively campaigning for pro-life groups. Such as the… Susan B. Anthony foundation. That is right, the one he couldn’t sign their pledge for because of the wording. Read their op-ed about Romney’s choice (Cain said no to this pledge as well) they even stated that he wanted something amended in the pledge and they denied him the request. So he wrote his own and signed it, so did Cain. The Susan B. Anthony still praised him for the work he had been doing for them over the years.
ROMNEY IS PRO-LIFE AND PRO-TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE, EVEN IF PERRY WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO FORGET THAT.
