Is ‘Occupy’ movement creeping into the classroom?

Blaze reader Erick D. from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., shares with us this vocabulary list from his 9-year-old daughter’s 4th grade class and his personal story of concern:

Is ‘Occupy’ movement creeping into the classroom?

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Brillo, this is all very interesting. But what lesson was your daughter being taught where these vocab words were brought up? And you’re talking about taking your daughter out of this school. Is this the only reason or are there others.

Hey guys thanks for all the support and tips! I am the father of this 9 yr old! Unfortunaly this is a big problem down here. Just to give you guys an update I spoke to the principal of the school (she became VERY annoyed w me) and told me that the words where chosen bc it was Columbus day! I laughed in her face and told her “I highly doubt that.” After going back and forth with her for a while I realized that I was not going to win this battle…Sadly I dont know what I should or can do next.

Luckly my daughter is smart and understood better then I was expecting why I disapproved of her vocab list. Now the problem is what now? My wife and I both work and we can not afford private school for both kids. We are thinking about looking into some of the charter programs in the area. Hopefully I can find one that does not have a Union to pollute the kids. What are your opinions on charter schools? Are they just as corrupt?

@GadsdenGurl, thanks for all the links! Truly unbelievable!

You make the whole thing very, veyr, VERY public. Like posting ehre. Contacting the Blaze (or askraj@gbtv.com). Wrtie down what was said. Make YouTube videos, do any news interviews, except CNN — where you’re gonna get attacked.

Don’t lay off. Find other parents with the same problem(s) in that school, or other problems. Keep going. The last thing left-wing or lib’s want is national attention drawn to themselves and what they do. It’s like turning a light on in the kitchen and watching the cockroaches scatter.

So, is the problem that the school is NOT advancing an ideology?

Notice the slanted and sanitized definitions of these words. No mention of the damage that unions, strikes, and boycotts often cause to the companies or organizations that they target, to their own workers, to the political parties and governmental bodies that they corrupt, and to the public as a whole.

Given that these words are in the news, there is nothing wrong with explaining what those words mean, as long as the definitions do not push a left-wing, pro-union agenda. The definitions shown above are pure propaganda.

Look at #4. You don’t get to “choose” to become a citizen of a country; you can choose to TRY and be one, but you are GRANTED citizenship. I bet we find mroe crap if we look around that school.

You can most certainly choose to be a citizen of a certain country, even if it’s not your country of birth. I can choose to be a cable TV installer if I do what is necessary to become one, just as I can choose to be a citizen of a country if I do what is necessary to become one.

PARENTS !! save your children – if you cannot home school or afford private schools, you MUST challenge each and every time an lying fact is presented to your kids. Be annoyingly in their face and don’t back down. If we do not start demanding truth from education out children will become those at OWS.

Oh dear you ain’t seen nothing yet! You wanna see social justice agendas in the public elementary schools? Florida is MOST egregious in that they employ the UN’s IB program. I can show you TONS of papers that will shock you from the ‘learner profiles’ they drum into the kids all day.

Dad, the answer is yes.I suggest you come up with a vocab list of your own with definitions like:
    work ethic
    illegal immigrant
    free market
    upward mobility
    philanthropy

    O=Occupy the White House

The government curriculum is right there to indoctrin…er, educate your children. Be “right thinking” now children – today’s vocabulary word is conspiracy – a false assumption that people have banded together to do bad things. In my day, we saw films about Hitler to show what evil is possible in the world. I bet classrooms in the “New America” will show films of Glenn Beck to try and brainwa…er, teach kids the same thing.

Exactly why schools should be privatized. I wish more private (and more affordable) owned schools were opened. 1% you have the power to educate america. DO IT.

Well, that would be up to the free market, wouldn’t it? If more want private schools, more would open, right? Or are you going to force someone to make a choice?
