Here’s an opinion you can take to the bank. Justin Bieber thinks Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., should go to jail for a bill she’s sponsoring. The bill would make it a felony to profit from online streaming of unlicensed content, according to the Star Tribune.
“That guy needs to be locked up,” Bieber said during a Washington D.C-based radio interview. The host corrected him on the senator’s gender. “Whoever she is, she needs to know that I’m saying that she needs to be locked up, put away in cuffs… I just think that’s ridiculous,” Bieber continued.
Klobuchar’s spokeswoman released a statement in response, saying “Justin Bieber must have been misled about the content of this bill… [It] only covers the intentional commercial theft of things like books, commercial music, and movies, including foreign piracy.”
Belieb that.

Posted on October 29, 2011 at 2:05pmI like how all of you are just slamming him because of who he is, rather than the content of his words.
The fact is that…he’s dead on here. This is a TERRIBLE piece of legislation. Why? Because streaming these things is already against the law. Take a look at something like youtube. You can find tons of content that has been removed due to copyright infringement. All the owner has to do is fire an e-mail off and it’s done.
This bill would turn it into a FELONY. This would mean that it becomes youtube’s(or whatever provider’s) job to police it or they can be lawfully held responsible. This means that people simply playing a video game and streaming it to others(whether for entertainment value, a video game review, etc), will be breaking the law. This would be like watching a friend play a game they bought. There is no reason why something such as that should be illegal…ESPECIALLY not a felony.
If this bill passes, we are giving the government more control over internet content that they have no right or reason to be controlling.

Posted on October 29, 2011 at 4:59pmAgreed. It also means stripping the general public of their means to communicate with each other. Think about that for a moment….

Posted on October 30, 2011 at 1:05pmI disagree. You obviously have no copyrighted material you created being illegally downloaded by thousands throughout the world. I have. It’s material that has never been lawfully released to the public and thousands WORLDWIDE are stealing my creative work I spent several years of my life to create. I think every single person who steals someone’s work should be prosecuted. It would put an end to a lot of this piracy where people think it’s perfectly fine to steal the creative work of others. When I read comments like yours, I devoutly wish you suffer this fate yourself to see how you like it. Internet piracy is an epidemic and it threatens the future of the entire creative community.

Posted on October 29, 2011 at 9:19amI think it’s fantastic that a kid that age is speaking out! Yes, it’s just because he is a celebrity that he gets any attention, but we need to be encouraging our young folks to pay attention to what the politicians are doing to us- TO THEM! Kids his age have a tough row to hoe, thanks to those who have continued to pull the lever for a career politician, just because they recognize the name. How stupid our Nation has been, when people get in the voting booth, and vote for a name they recognize, regardless…..of what they’ve done to us, or intend to do to feather their own nests. Career and politician – two words that should never be used together!

Posted on October 29, 2011 at 12:47amHey Punk – your 15 minutes of fame have expired. I don’t like the Democratic Senator either, but your lame music is the real felony. Plus, anyone who’s stupid enough to buy your dripple should be jailed.
What are you gonna do next to get attention from the media, sport a Mohawk? It would be a great career move.
Almost every time that an entertainer opens their mouth about politics, we‘re all reminded how they’re really incredibly inept individuals. Memo to Bubonic – Next time, keep your cake hole shut.

Posted on October 30, 2011 at 6:50pmYou guys are being way too harsh on this kid. First of all, he’s very talented and works very hard to keep his fans happy. Second of all, if you do a little research on him you will see that he has a strong Christian faith and is pro-life, something I would think most commentors here would approve of.
He was asked a question and he answered it. Whether or not you like his answer is irrelevant…people keep saying “who cares what he thinks?”. Well obviously someone does or the question wouldn’t have been asked.
