Developing: Pakistani Plane Escorted by UK Fighter Jets — 2 Men Arrested

If he was a Muslim, would Tim Tebow be mocked for his public displays of faith?
Last night’s NFL game ended with the Denver Broncos beating the NY Jets 17-13. The Broncos won the game on a fourth quarter drive that featured QB Tim Tebow’s scrambling and passing skills. Tebow accounted for 92 yards of the 95 yard drive to the end zone that put his team ahead with under a minute left in the game.
After the go-ahead score, Tim Tebow also dropped to a knee to offer a quick prayer of thanks.

The Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is not shy about showing his Christian faith on the football field. After finishing a great play or scoring a touchdown, he regularly drops to one knee and offers a prayer. This has become known as “Tebowing.”
Tebowing has given comics, late night TV hosts and sportscasters something to talk about. It has even inspired a website that includes photos of people “Tebowing” all around the country. My personal favorites include are found in the “Patriotic” section.
Let me share a couple from the five pages posted here.

As the Tebowing phenomenon grows, so does the chatter about Tim Tebow’s public displays of faith.
Two weeks ago, the ladies of The View spent a little time talking about it with Whoopi Goldberg asking correctly framing the argument, stating that the only discussion should be about Tebow’s skills as a quarterback.
Tim Tebow is now 4-1 as a starter for the Denver Broncos. His success as a quarterback and public displays of faith have also ignited a bit of a discussion as to the appropriateness of these custom jerseys offered by the NFL – featuring Tim Tebow’s number, but the name JESUS on the back.

How do you feel about Tebow’s open expressions of belief in God?
Is Tim Tebow’s faith “fair game” for ridicule by comics?
Would Tebow be mocked if he was a Muslim and shouted “Allahu Akbar” after each touchdown?
Take the poll.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 5:39pmI prayed that there would be others that say they Love God and are not afraid to be called “Gods Children of the United States”. Of all the people of this world who say they Love God and believe in His Son Jesus but, very, very few have the backbone to let others know what is in their hearts. This is because they truly do not believe. . . .and yet they say they are Christians. Remember, your soul will always follow what is in your heart, and if God is not first and above all. . . .you lose.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 10:41amCome on. This is getting ridiculous. The player is being mocked, not the religion he believes in. He is not the only one that is a Christian and he’s not the only one that shows it on the field. Have any of you ever been to a college or pro football game? In the locker room before the game they have a group prayer. After the game players from both teams routinely congratulate each other and say “God bless you”. Many, from both teams, will get together on the field after the game and pray together.
There is so many people against Christians it seems really silly to waste so much time on something that truly isn’t there.

Posted on November 20, 2011 at 2:56amTebow is a proven winner and a natural leader. He has high character and he flat out makes plays when he needs to make them. His passing % will get better with time and his running game will always be near unstoppable. He’s 4-1 with an average team at best. I’d take him as my starter any day of the week. Oh yeah, he also takes care of the ball with only 1 INT since taking over.

Posted on November 19, 2011 at 5:28pmWhy should anyone care who you pray to? It is none of anyone’s business.
It is free speech if someone wants to say thank you Jesus. Next there will be prayer police coming after us.

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 4:18pmWe should ALL be ” Tebowing ” several times a day. Tim Tebow is a Godly man and has his heart and spirit in the right place. Those that mock him do so at their own peril. When was the last time you spoke to or listened to God, the Creator of All Things ?

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 4:24pmhave read that Sandty kofax wouldn’t pitch on certain religous dates. People remember him for his character not for lack of. I do say it is a game and God is not a Bronco’s fan. Only Kidding. Drives me nuts when atheletes say God was on our side. God is on everybody’s side

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 4:10pmIt is just hilarious that people can be fans of guys convicted of domestic violence, dog fighting, have multiple children from any array of women, served time for weapons charges, etc etc, but let a few fans get excited about a player who is not afraid to demonstrate his faith and speak of God as the source of all that is good and the pundits just go berserk!
Far be it from me to know the mind of God but perhaps he uses Tebow with his acknowledged limited talents with his humbleness to learn to bring low those who think they are “ALL THAT.” While it is not always pretty, in the end, God always wins.

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 1:38pmOf course the player would not be mocked. But if you mention God or Jesus Christ you will be denigrated and ridiculed publicly. Because that’s just the way of the world.

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 10:06pmThough i don’t agree with your argument I do agree with your position. If someone were to say something negative about a muslim the media and certain groups turn it into a witch hunt but with christianity something that doesnt allow itself in essence to conform with the world it isnt a problem. we live in a world of double standards; look at the church that tried to burn the Muslim Bible in Florida it was turned into this big thing and yet muslims have held protest and burned our flag in our streets and nothing. I am not saying all muslims are like this just like I am not saying all christians are like Tebow. Its just the double standard what they can get away with saying about a christian they couldn’t get away with saying about a muslim.

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 12:07pmTebow is mocked because he’s terrible at football, people just use the mock praying thing to do it because it’s his most prominent characteristic.
Displays like what Tebow does are bogus anyway. They aren’t trying to give glory to god, they’re just trying to prove how religious they are by making sure to do it in front of a camera. It’s a move to draw attention to themselves, not to praise god.

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 10:11pmFirst off how dare you judge another’s faith, unless you are a mindreader you should keep you ideas about someone elses faith to yourself and by the way you just proved our point about him being mocked for his faith. You devote half a sentence to his quaterback skills and the rest of you long post to his faith, nice, thanks for making my arguments easy.

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 11:38amI must admit I come nowhere near Tebow’s depth of faith but I cannot help but be impressed with him. The fact is he has been doubted at every turn yet he keeps smiling and enduring, I would be uttering compound expletives where he gracefully smiles through it all. To cherry that sundae he keeps finding ways of winning, proving his detractors wrong time and again – he is the underdog.
The other part of why I am cheering for him is that we don’t have many heroes like him. He’s a man of deep faith, he lives his faith and strives to do what is right. There isn’t anyone who comes immediately to mind who is an inspiration like he is. So many in sports and Hollywood do not set any moral standard or code we can point our children to and say “Be like this guy.”
I wish Tebow the best, he has been walking through fire, mocked, doubted, put down. All he has to do is stay true to his path and continue to succeed and he’ll have true victory.

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 10:47amSo it’s not ok for him to openly express his faith or wear glasses with ‘John 3:16′ on them?
Yet it’s perfectly fine for a Muslim man/woman to wear specific religious clothing, carry around their prayer beads in public or wear the hijab/burka? I want to know their answer/response to this one. Morons.

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 10:07amChrist was openly mocked, over and over again. We as Christians can expect it and are admonished to love our enemies in spite of the mockery.
Matthew 5:43-48
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 10:02amI couldn’t stand him during his years at UF (Go ‘Noles!) but i respect him for his faith. We all know that if he were a ******** not a single word would be said in the MSM about any displays of faith he might make. So keep showing your love for the Lord, Tebow! You might be a Gator, but you are definitely a good guy and a wonderful example for young people to follow.
