The stimulus was incredibly successful. It was a stimulus to support and motivate the base in the immediate post election phase. People just get confused when they don’t understand what got stimulated.

The Federal Government chose to invest taxpayer dollars in entires suh as Solyndra et al.
Private investors *voluntarily* place their capital at risk when selectin investments. The Federal Government investing in ventures – both private and public – with stimulus monies was nothing less than the forced risk of taxpayer capital. Myself and every other taxpayer were forced to put our capital at risk by investing in GM, Solyndra, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and a hundred other ventures that private investors wouldn’t touch with a 12 foot pole. The only means available to funnel capital to these ventures was through brute force, which only the Federal Government was capable of.
Government is force. Period. The People shall only tolerate tyranny so long as they agree with the tyrant.

For the stimulus to have worked the government would have had to direct the money to the same places private investors would have gone. Government lacks that wisdom. Private investors would buy *value* while the government bean counters only count dollars.
