During the Q&A portion of a campaign stop by Ron Paul‘s team in Iowa on Friday, a young boy who identified himself as having autism asked Paul how he would “protect” children with the disease.
Naturally, Paul framed his answer in the context of civil liberty. “The most valuble resource for children, teenagers, college kids and adults is our liberties and that is the most important thing that we (the federal government) can do,” he said.
It was a thoughtful and thorough answer, if predictable.

Posted on January 2, 2012 at 12:29pmTwo things as you watch someone who will most likely become the next president take a question from a young man in the audience then responds to the entire of the room. His answer is bound in civil liberties and the benevolence of Americans to privately support action and activities which will provide for those who are in need. He indicates that to use government for such activities is in effective and inefficient. Why? because the related issues become founded upon politics and not the actual care of the individual(s).
Like the answer or not, he is exactly correct. No one wants their health care decisions based upon their political alignment, because as parties move and change the care provided the groups of political individuals will change. It could be devastating basing your health care decisions on the fact that your are either democrat, republican, libertarian or independent.

Posted on January 2, 2012 at 11:05amPaul is right the research for this disease belongs in the private sector. Problem with corporation (because the profit motivation), have become a den of thieves and moral degenerates ENABLING and PROMOTING problems to continue the profit growth.
Report Post »Government whose sole purpose is to PROTECT the community DOES NOT charge corporate CEOs with criminal charges as they should and so the CORPORATE STRUCTURE OF CAPITALIMS IS CORRUPTED and does not serve the community.
It is Corporate big Pharama that is CAUSING, autism(mental retardation) via DRUGS for this that and the other that one of the parent ingested long before the child was born. It is big pharma that causes obesity with PSYCHOTROPIC drugs that the populous eats like candy for the silghtes “depression” ….
RITLIN in combination with crap diet causes childhood obsesity. THESE CORPORATIONS ARE CRIMINALs for putting drugs on the market that DESTROY peoples health as opposed to what the purpose is to: Cure.
Point being: the only thind POTUS can do is USE the judicial system to lock aup IRRESPONSIBLE private sectors like corporations who profit by “selling” drugs that DESTROY and cause diseases.
And yes, autism is nothing more than a new word for mental retardation=improper development of cognitive functions. P.C; just masks reality not solves it.

Posted on January 1, 2012 at 5:24pmAutism is the new Attention Deficit Disorder…..I know kids diagnosed with Autism often lead lives filled with bad times and moments of total chaotic disorder….but Autism is WAY over diagnosed and in so doing kids like my little brother who is genuinely what was referred to as mentally retarded bak in the early 60′s…..meanwhile my brother has been treated like a “******” all his life…because mental retardation just doesn’t have the flair and flourish that the concept of “Autism” does. In the 80‘s and 90’s it was Attention Deficit Disorder and now we have an entire generation of kids who receive SSI or SSD and parents who deliberately get their little Johnnys and Judys diagnosed so they can get “Crazy” payments from the government. Autism is the new ADD. Ron Paul cannot answer the kids question because Ron Paul is incapable of participating in any sort of disease “envy”. Although not a Paul supporter….the entire political culture of this country will NEVER be able to accuse Ron Paul of being wishy washy or of waffling on this sort of thing and that definelty is one of Paul’s attributes. Autism, ADD and every other flavor of the month only serve to create inefficient and oppressive governmental pressure. I mean seriously people…how BAD can Autism really be if the very kid who is apparently a “victim” of it….is actually cognizant and lucid enough as well as politically savvy enough to ask his OWN question(s)?

Posted on January 1, 2012 at 10:21pmYou clearly are not a parent of an Autistic child. I used to be confused and judgemental like you until God blessed me with a little humility and gave me my challenging son to raise.

Posted on January 10, 2012 at 8:55pmClearly you are uneducated about Autism. My husband and I both work full time and never received a dime from the Government. You are clearly uniformed about the Government as well.
Report Post »I feel sorry for you because my son who is only nine and has Autism has more smarts than you do and although he has many learning challenges, he, With a little help from people who are educated, he will become a productive member of society unlike youself who will stay ignorant forever.

Posted on January 1, 2012 at 1:03pmHave we become so dependent on the state that we neglect to see that we can rely on each other and charity to help us through, not the state? Liberty requires vigilance and, sometimes, personal sacrifice. Once you let the state get a foot in the door, it is hard to get rid of it.

Posted on January 1, 2012 at 5:46pmMedical care and standards of living are always lower in welfare states. They have a lower economic output because they do not incent hard work and they burden the economy with bureaucracy.
If the US falls to socialist ideas, the economy will decline and medial research will decline, standard of living will decline and the elderly, the young and the sick will suffer.
This is a basic fact that people can’t seem to understand.

Posted on January 2, 2012 at 7:46amExactly, since when are we supposed to view the State as the savior? The Federal governments job is not to become a charity, fighting disease but to fight for our sovereignty as a nation so that private businesses can flourish and find cures for diseases. Dr. Paul gave the perfect response, but not if you are a Socialist.

Posted on December 31, 2011 at 5:15pmWhat is it with all these parents exploiting their children this time around? I like Ron Paul’s domestic policies, but I’m too afraid of his Foreign policy/Anti-Semitism to vote for him. I’m going with Santorum. However, I can’t tolerate these parents screwing their kids up and stealing their childhood by politicizing them at every turn. Its a form of child abuse in my opinion.

Posted on December 31, 2011 at 8:39pmYou shouldn’t be afraid. Know. Find out what he stands for specifically, you may be surprised. I think it’s best explained in this video by his Senior Campaign advisor.

As for Santorum, he is Big Govt. for the same reason many republicans criticized George Bush; he doesn’t mind earmarks for pro-life programs, when if you‘re TRULY small government you wouldn’t be promoting the use of earmarks.

Report Post »I agree with you whole-heartedly. It is very encouraging seeing the latest poll numbers from Iowa. If Rick Santorum places 3rd (or even better!), this nomination fight will become a real horserace: Moderate, Libertarian and Conservative will each be well represented. As Milton said: “May Truth and Error grapple in the field”

Posted on January 1, 2012 at 5:09pm@Karen – Just some thoughts on why I prefer Ron Paul’s view and why it makes me feel safer.
Ron Paul has called for pulling troops out of German and Japan – that does not make him an enemy of those countries. He has called Israel a friend and stated that they like the rest of the word can take care of themselves.
He would remove more aid from the arab states than he would from Israel – on balance that is pro-Israel. He supports Israel’s right to statehood and their right to defend himself.
Don’t be fooled by the big military groups that make billions on supporting global war.
Ron Paul only wants to pull back from global policing and build a strong economy.
If I wanted to feel safe I would pick a strong economy over a global police force any day.

Posted on December 31, 2011 at 11:42amI believe this would have also been an appropriate reply…
Dr. Benjamin Rush MD – “Unless we put medical freedom into the Constitution, the time will come when medicine will organize into an underground dictatorship… To restrict the art of healing to one class of men and deny equal privileges to others will constitute the Bastille of medical science. All such laws are un-American and despotic and have no place in a republic… The Constitution of this republic should make special privilege for medical freedom as well as religious freedom.”
