Newt Gingrich says he feels Romney boated
What do the anti-John Kerry Swift Boat Veterans from the 2004 presidential election and Newt Gingrich have in common? Nothing. But Gingrich thinks his campaign has been a victim of a swift boat-like attack from Mitt Romney.

The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group of Vietnam war vets, was largely credited for sinking Sen. John Kerry‘s presidential bid in 2004 by airing a series of negative ads and publishing a book attacking Kerry’s military service record.

Gingrich’s campaign has seen a spate of negative ads. As of Friday, 45 percent of the ads that have aired in Iowa were anti-Gingrich, according to ABC News. Many of them were released by pro-Romney PAC Restore our Future.

While campaiging in Iowa on Sunday, Gingrich was asked if he felt “swiftboated” by the series of negative ads. “I feel Romney-boated,” he said, according to the Sioux City Journal.

At least he didn’t compare his campaign to Pearl Harbor. That would be weird.

This entire article is trash, you leave out of his quote when asked if he felt swift boated he said “No, I feel Romney-boated”. A pretty weak reach to say he was comparing the two, all for the purpose of taking a shot at someone you nutty conspiracy theorists don’t believe. And this is the mighty blaze of truth you becknuts love to rant about?

I am a supporter of Newt’s and was a fan of Glen until he started calling Newt a progressive. Especially after not airing video of Romney actually calling himself a progressive. I would bet all I have that Reagan would disagree. There is not a Republican in the field or any active politician who can hold a candle to the accomplishments Newt Gingrich made advancing conservative policies and dramatic change; and he accomplished them under a very popular Democratic President

During his four years as House speaker, Gingrich accomplished the following:
1996 he passed Welfare Reform, the only major entitlement reform in U.S. history and 60% of welfare rolls were reduced
1997 he passed the largest capital gains tax cut in U.S history and first tax cut in 16 years
1998 he passed the first balanced budget in over 30 years.
Under his leadership 400 billion dollars of U.S. debt was paid off
Under his leadership 11 million jobs were created (nearly 3 million per year)
He kept federal spending at 18.5% of GDP vs. the current 25%
We had our first reduction in discretionary spending in 3 decades
The Federal workforce declined by 10

He blocked Bill Clinton’s healthcare plans (Hillarycare)
When he became Speaker, congressional approval was 20%. When he left the Speakership four years later it was 60%.

Please list your candidate’s accomplishments below for a comparison. Newt 2012
