Politics Tithing Romney gave millions to church

Mitt Romney gave millions to Mormon churchGiven Mitt Romney has yet to publicly disclose his full tax returns (he says he might in April), it’s not exactly known what his charitable donations have been. But a new report by ABC says his family charity, the Tyler Foundation, gave $600,000 to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2009.

That’s some heavy tithing.

And if that’s 10 percent (the suggested giving amount in the Christian Bible) of Romney’s income for 2009, he made $6 million that year.

In the past give years, Romney’s charity has donated a total $4 million to the church, according to the report.

There is no problem with the tithing. I would like to know how the Mormon church feels about his ads running in the campaign?? They don’t sound like a praticing church going person.

Don’t you have to just laugh at the lame street liberal media hypocrisy, they had no dam- problem with millionaire playboy, “John F. Kennedy” having a kaboodle of money. The media really are the biggest hypocrits going. So what if Romney gave money to the church.

And??.. This article just proves that Romney actually walks the walk, and takes his Christian duty to pay a 10% tithe seriously, even if that means paying millions. The LDS church is one of the greatest and most efficient charitable organizations to ever exist assisting countless people worldwide. Kind of hard even for ABC liberals to label Romney as an evil raiding greedy capitalist, when he gives millions to charity!!!!

Everything we possess belongs to God. We are only stewards of His provision. God only asks that we tithe 10% as an act of worship. I’ve been taught to give 10% to God, save 10% and live a rich and bountiful life on the rest that is not taxed to high heaven by the government. Tithing is an investment in Eternity; God only asks that we give graciously with “pure hearts”.

Conservatives are more likely to understand this explanation rather than the Liberal Progressives …

Tithing is more…. institutionalized in the Mormon church from what I’ve seen (I’ve had several friends who were mormon and used to play basketball with them weekly when I was younger…. much younger but we won’t get into that). I think most conservatives will either approve or have no issues with this. The left doesn‘t like anything the right does so I’m confident they’ll have some issue with it…

Tithing has to be 10%. (Tithe means tenth)

An “offering” can be more than 10%. I think generally churches use the term “giving” for amounts less than 10%. But those are regional.
