World Author skips literary festival due to death threats from . . .

Care to guess? Was it all those radical Christians out there issuing kill-on-sight orders?

This headline from CNN seems to be missing something:

‘Satanic Verses’ author pulls out of literary festival over death threats

Hmm. What could it be? Let’s find out the source of the threats:

British author Salman Rushdie on Friday canceled his appearance at the Jaipur literary festival in India following warnings of threats to his life.

“I have now been informed by intelligence sources in Maharashtra and Rajasthan that paid assassins from the Mumbai underworld may be on their way to Jaipur to ‘eliminate’ me,” Rushdie said in a statement. …

The writer rose to international notoriety with his 1980s novel, “The Satanic Verses,” which stirred protests throughout the Muslim world. Rushdie lived under protection in Britain for nearly 10 years after a fatwa, a death sentence, was issued against him by Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini.Khomeini considered lines in the book as blasphemous against Islam.

Aah. It’s just another threat from radical Islamists.

Nevermind.

Nothing to see here.

Move along.

UPDATE: CNN has now updated and changed its headline and story.

The Salafist party’s plan for the Pyramids? Cover them in wax

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2077964/The-Salafist-partys-plan-Pyramids–cover-wax.html

This means destruction – along the lines essayed by the Afghan Taliban who blew up the Banyam Buddhas – or ‘concealment’ by covering them with wax. Tourists would presumably see great blobs rather than the perfectly carved steps.

The New York Times had published an open letter by Salman Rushdie in 1988. The letter was addressed to Mr Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, on the issue of banning of his book by the Customs department! The letter was never replied nor commented upon, nor the ban ever lifted.

The letter is worth reading as an excellent piece of protest prose as also as an expression of everybody’s right to free speech. I have posted the full text at http://sayskakodkar.blogpost.com.

Wow… And I thought refusing to read or pay money for the book was bad.

The fact that an evil man like the Muslim leader of Iran can/would call for the world wide search and murder of an ordinary citizen for writing a book shows not only how dangerous the Islamic religion is but how unsafe we are.

It’s time to recognize that although Islam is starting with the Jews and Christians, Islam is at war with everyone who is not Muslim and it’s time to fight back, stop the building of Islamic gathering places and also restrict migration into the USA and increase the deportation of illegal Muslims entering our country for starters

I think the Sharia Law & Order team should investigate immediately.

But seriously, Rushdie has been under a Fatwa from the “Religion of Pieces” for decades. Did any MSM folks ever look into this ??? Islamaphobia-phobia

There should be an organized day of American organized humor with Mohammad as the topic. This display of free speech would show radical Muslims that the individual threats have no meaning of a nation that is united with free speech. The humor has been directed to Judea Christian only and Islam needs equal time with the media in order of fair play.

This is why Ron Paul’s foreign policy is dangerous.

Even his grave, if he is buried somewhere and not cremated, will not be safe from the evil Muslims.

I remember this from my youth…so so long ago.

The muslims have been hunting him down ever since.

Even that clown, Cat Stevens (aka Yusef Islam), agrees Salman should be killed on the altar of Allah.

    Stupid muslims.
