On the front page Becket Adams has a post about a Thursday segment on MSNBC in which political talk show host Martin Bashir praised the “socialism”-like business model of the NFL.

Adams highlights the dumbest elements from the segment, but that aside, Bashir’s commentary could at least be considered novel. That is, if he weren’t actually stealing borrowing the idea from liberal comedian Bill Maher.

In Bashir’s commentary Thursday, he rolled an out-of-context clip from a recent “60 Minutes” interview in which the same topic was discussed, but it was Maher who made it political point a year ago in a monologue for his show “Real Time.” That monologue was also published on the Huffington Post (with an honorable mention of my boss’ boss):

[T]he NFL runs itself in a way that would fit nicely on Glenn Beck‘s chalkboard – they literally share the wealth, through salary caps and revenue sharing – TV is their biggest source of revenue, and they put all of it in a big commie pot and split it 32 ways. Because they don’t want anyone to fall too far behind. That’s why the team that wins the Super Bowl picks last in the next draft. Or what the Republicans would call “punishing success.”

Bashir was a panel guest on Maher’s show last week. What did he do after, go home and Google “Bill Maher commentaries” then paste his findings on his MSNBC teleprompter?
