Government RNC guide to crony capitalism at DOE

From Solyndra to CH2M Hill to Vantage Point Venture Partners, we’ve all heard about the deep financial ties linking the Obama campaign and administration to clean-energy firms and their investors. With so many allegations, a high-turnover of Obama administration officials and odd company names, it’s hard to keep track of the alleged web of influence within the White House and Department of Energy. The Republican National  Committee research department has come to help critics keep track of Obama’s alleged “crony capitalism,” with this new image connecting the dots between venture capitalists benefitting from Department of Energy deals and President Obama.

    Whaaaaat?!?! Steve Westly is among this group?

    Just because he was California Campaign Co-chair for Obama for America, was a major campaign bundler for Obama, and was a member of Obama for America’s national finance committee.

    Heck, he was even considered for a Cabinet-level position in the Obama Administration.

    Steve Westly served as California’s Controller and was even a candidate for Governor in California. Steve Westly lost in the primary to Phil Angelides (there’s another interesting person to check out, including his former boss Angelo Tsakapoulos–both are friends of Ms. Pelosi).

    Could it be because he’s also a major contributor in general to the Democrats? According to CampaignMoney.com, Mr. Westly has personally given at least $99,850 in campaign donations to various causes for the Democrats.

    These guys wrote the playbook on how to wreck an industry! Energy Conversion Devices filed Chapter 11 yesterday!     This company has been around through thick and thin in this industry. It is innovative both on the science end with amorphous silicon, and on the marketing end with its flexible panels in roofing materials, it’s wide-spectrum response and it’s robust performance in shade and in installations with a partially obstructed solar dome. It was NOT the recipient of ‘our’ government’s largesse (who really ‘owns’ it, anyway–sounds like he who runs the dispensary is the effective owner-in-chief)! It suffered the dislocation of a industry that came into too much money, too fast! New players with a tremendously lowered bar to entry played havoc with the economics and heretofore price/performance decision-making that allowed companies, like ECD, to grow in an orderly fashion. This industry has always been more wish than reality, but the legacy players that stuck with it, did all the trailblazing, took all the bruises, have been slaughtered by the DOE! Congratulations, guys!

      Corrections: ‘Solar sphere” and I misspelled their in my previous correction! Sorry, I’m more than a little upset! Congress–PULL THE PLUG ON SPENDING UNTIL YOU HAVE DEMONSTRATED YOU ARE COMPETENT TO DO SO ONCE AGAIN! If you don’t, you’re gonna be looking for jobs, like the rest of us–but government won’t be hiring by the time you run out of unemployment (You do get unemployment, don’t you–I didn’t, because I was self-employed when the rug got pulled out from under me! Did THAT ever show up in your LYING statistics?) Better take a look at GREECE and know that we are headed squarly in their direction!

    If anyone or group is expert on crony capitalism it is the republikuds, incorrectly called “republicans”. Look up the defintion of “republican” and you will see what I mean. Little Georgie was given the deal for his ball team after he was bailed out of “spectrumenergy” Look it up. Both political factions are guilty of this and have been ever since the Congress voted to give money to the widows of the war of 1812. Beck is the re-incarnatin of John Darby, Cyrus Scofield and Sanuel Untermeyer. Being a Mormon Beck believes the more he makes on this earth puts him into a better seat in his “heaven” Call him and ask him exactly where in New York state was the garden of eden. Time for these parasitic idiots to begin defending their actions and beliefs.
