An ad airing in Michigan from Mitt Romney‘s campaign plays up Rick Santorum‘s (former?) love for earmarks. It shows a older TV clip of then-Sen. Santorum saying, “I have had a lot of earmarks – in fact, I’m very proud of all the earmarks I’ve put in bills.”
That’s not good.

Posted on February 20, 2012 at 5:04pmThe real Mitt Romney is clearly an extraordinarily ambitious man with no perceivable political principle whatsoever. He will alter his past, exaggerates his record and traffic in ambiguous language. That puts Romney and Obama in the same sand box. Romney is a manufactured candidate. He moderates his stripes, but he doesn’t change them.
Romney overstates his accomplishment and understates the side effects. Romney doesn’t apply principle, he manages image; his own image, like Obama. Nobody can choreograph political theater and distortions of failed policies like Romney and Obama. There’s just one requisite for being a conservative political leader, and that is that you actually are one. Mitt Romney is no conservative. And, conservatism cannot be redefined to fit the mold of whoever the candidate is.

Posted on February 18, 2012 at 3:28amIn 2006, Rick Santorum, less than two months before suffering one of the worst losses in Senate history, was named one of three “most corrupt” Senators by CREW, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. If Santorum is the GOP nominee, this will be used by the Obama team.
According to CREW:
“The officials named in this report have chosen to enrich themselves and their families and friends by abusing the power of their office, rather than work for the public good. Their collective corruption affects all Americans,” stated the executive director of CREW, Melanie Sloan.”
“Sen. Santorum’s ethics issues stem from the manner in which he funded his children’s education and his misuse of legislative position in exchange for contributions to his political action committee and his re-election campaign,” CREW notes, on page 207 of their exhaustive report (PDF), which delves into deep detail across eleven extensively-footnoted pages.
In February of 2006, CREW had filed an ethics complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee against Senator Santorum, “alleging that Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) violated the Senate Gift Rule by accepting a mortgage from The Philadelphia Trust Company, a bank that serves affluent clients.”
Charging that “ethical trespasses have become the norm for Sen. Santorum,” CREW’s Melanie Sloan cited Santorum’s “contempt for the rules” as “particularly ironic given that Sen. Santorum has long position himself

Posted on February 20, 2012 at 10:08pmCREW is laughable as a ethics watchdog. Their agenda is not to make politics more ethical but to get a left wing liberal elected. http://activistcash.com/citizens_for_responsibility_and_ethics_in_washington_CREW//funds.htm

Posted on February 17, 2012 at 4:28pmwell ok I don’t understand how Buying gas and creating one of the largest venture capital firms in the us is the same. so instead of falling into your trap I am going to ask you this question. how do you feel about what was said in the add. either you agree with Santorum‘s love for earmarks or you don’t, and lets be honest he loved earmarks. to be fare I will state one thing I like about Romney and one thing I don’t like and I would challenge you to do the same.
1. he said that he wants to take health insurance out of the hands of your employer and give it to you and allow insurance to be sold across states line. everyone talks about repealing health care but not how the system needs to be fixed.
2. min. wage tided to inflation.

Posted on February 17, 2012 at 4:59pmOh goodie! Yet another irrational all or nothing pseudo-conservative view point.
Worthless post.
By the way its not called smearing when it is the truth. Santorum’s past is the issue, both here in the primaries and, if he were nominated, in the national election. He claims to be a conservative but did not vote that way when he had the chance. Pity. He showed such promise. Sucks to be him. Complaining about your past being thrown in your face, and then pointing fingers at your opponent and calling him mean for doing so is the definition of childishness. Santorum needs some cheese for his whine.
