Media GOP debate on the surface: Super Tuesday

Recap of CNNs GOP debate ahead of Super Tuesday primary
It’s been a month since the last debate and I want to send a personal thank-you to CNN for not scheduling it on a Friday or Saturday at 9 p.m as other debates have done in the past.

The debate is the last before Super Tuesday (Mar. 6) and the Arizona and Michigan primaries (Feb. 28). Here are the tid bits:

1. If nothing else, Ron Paul has big ones for talking smack about Rick Santorum to his face. On Tuesday, Paul’s campaign released an ad that called Santorum “fake.” John King, who moderated the debate said to Paul, “you have a new television ad that labels [Santorum] a fake. Why?” Paul responded, “Because he’s a fake.” Ouch. THE BLAZE’s Mytheos Holt has it here.

2. Santorum responded to Paul’s criticism by comparing his own fiscal record to the rest of Congress. “You’re comparing yourself to the rest of Congress?” Paul said, adding, “Their approval rating is at 9 percent!” The problem is, Paul is also a member of Congress. He’s not excluded from that 9% rating.Recap of CNNs GOP debate ahead of Super Tuesday primary

3. John King deserves credit. I anticipated a boring debate because he’s… boring. But this debate wasn’t. He did a good job.

4. Did you see The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Newt? Check out that royal tie.

5. And while we’re at it, Gingrich should never say the word “missionary” in public again. I don’t even remember in what harmless context he said it. But he should never say it again.

6. Mitt Romney looked like he might be suffering from a cold tonight. That might be why he was a bad sport about answering the final question: “What is the biggest misconception about you in the public debate?” That was a gimme for Romney. But he answered with something generic about America’s future. When asked by King to address the specific question Romney answered, “You get to ask the questions you want, I get to give the answers I want.” Okay, suit yourself, Robot. Watch it here.

Here’s the record of our live chat. Thank you to everyone who joined!

I have to say that Newt leaves me fired up & I gave him kuddos for re-directing the contraception issue back to O’s signing infanticide previously, he pointed out the hypocrisy of “good earmarks & bad earmarks”, etc.

Newt is quick, great on his feet & WOULD crush Obama. In addition – I feel Newt’s “insider” experience is good this go around; it means he can make changes & QUICK! We have alot to undo.
Newt’s 48 hour aggressive plan to undo the radical change that O brought is more than Romney plans to do his entire term.

We need to act & act quickly & Newt knows how to do that – he is in fact the smartest man in the room. We just have to keep him on track, State run ideas.

I cannot stress enough; I feel that we are being played by the MSM, we have been led to believe that Romney is the most electible & the Left is loaded for bear against Romney….. that Independants wont vote Conservative…. that is just a farce!

The Left has never understood what is happening in America! They didn’t understand 2010, they dont see that the under-current in the Country is pulling Right. We the people are re-educating ourselves with the founders’ intentions, conservatism is on the rise.

RP tells it like it is and doesn’t pull punches … but starts to mutter incomplete & incoherent sentences when he gets excited… its time to offer him Chamber of Commerce & let him tear up the Fed.

Santorum I really like but question how he’d come off to the mainstream in a

Don’t be naive – the JFK dems are gone.
Today’s Left knows exactly what they are doing to America.
They knew in Cuba, in Russia/Eastern Europe, in China, and all over the world where they strangle Liberty for the sake of Power.
The Left does not decrease those in poverty – it increases those in poverty. It does not increase the strength of America, the Left decreases the strength of America.
They do not expand and protect Liberty – they destroy it.

Paul is FANATICAL about money. Guess that comes from never having much. He’s and OBGYN – they don’t know it all and he seems to carry that chip of “lack of respect” for his profession – or only reaching so far at it. Yes, Santorum is not guiltless for “going with the team” on much of his voting, nor is Romney – and nor is Gingrich for collaborating with the enemy. But then, Paul’s only foray has always been “No” on virtually everything. No is not always an option – except to Paul.

Observations of last night. haven’t seen all of it, but for 1.75 hrs of it, i did not hear anything about the NDAA with provisions that violate ammendments 4-8.
Paul’s missed opportunity-when discussing Iran, explain the wardrums as he did, but emphasize that if Israel feels that its soveriegnty is threatened, they should not ask us for permission and how can we be an ally when we’re broke. also, the constitution does specify the feds provide a navy which will protect trade. the navy needs upgrading and currently we have more admirals than boats. let’s get some boats and patrol those waters to assist in security. beef up technology to intercept.

    anywho, my $0.02

Satantorum’s lies and eception caught up with him tonight.

    Ron Paul is genuinely righteous.

    Satantorum is a con man.

And tonight Ron Paul started to dismantle Satantorum’s disguise.

Santorum has taken far too many slings and arrows for the Conservatives in the GOP to have someone think a “liar” charge carries any water.
He has fought for pure conservative issues – point blank – in public – under the blaring hot MSM spotlight – head to head against the Left – and mostly alone.
Paul is good too – but the media left him alone for the longest time – he did not get “the treatment” like Rick has had to endure.
Santorum, publicly, stands for Conservatives and has the “Media Matters hatchet scars” to prove it.

I really don’t know what Mitt would do as POTUS.
His comment on raising the _minimum wage_, he said a month ago – was 180′ contrary to the conservative playbook. And who knows how he would have voted in the congress on all the bills that Paul and Santorum have voted on. – perhaps similar.
