Fox News caught selling ‘gang paraphernalia’

After Fox News contributor Geraldo Rivera warned parents against letting their children leave the house wearing hooded sweatshirts lest they be confused for a thug criminal or, you know, the Unabomber, Buzzfeed hilariously noted that FoxNews.com was selling the dangerous paraphernalia:

Phew — crime wave averted.

And just for fun, there’s now a website dedicated solely to posting pictures of Geraldo Rivera wearing hoodies. BOOM. WINNING.

I sell gang paraphernalia too. With Bible verses on it:

Up until a couple of days ago, I didn’t know that Bible verses were part of the thug life. My preacher always jokes that some church is going to have a “meth labs for Jesus” program some day… I just unknowingly started promoting my new program “gangsters for Jesus”.

I think that everybody is missing the point of Geraldo Rivera’s comments. I believe he was trying to say that by wearing a hoodie, teens become vulnerable of being hurt by people like George Zimmerman. He is not saying that wearing a hoodie makes a person a member of a gang, like this “article’s” headline suggests, but it makes them less safe. In other words, he wasn’t placing blame on the victim, but he was explaining that parents need to protect their kids by stepping in and preventing them for wearing something that could put them in harm’s way.

Questions remain if this “boy” was even a victim. There may be an eyewitness account of Zimmerman being attacked by the now dead teen.
