Rep. Keith Ellison reposts tweet calling Romney ‘heartless douchebag’
Twitter users often include disclaimers in their bios that say something along the lines of “retweets do not = endorsements.” The purpose is to let visitors to their profiles know that a retweeted message does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the person who retweeted.
Rep. Keith Ellison‘s (D-Minn.) office went with the “retweets do not = endorsements” defense when the congressman’s Twitter account reposted a tweet that called Mitt Romney a “heartless douchebag.”
The tweet in question was captured below by The Washington Free Beacon (at the bottom of the capture you can see “Retweeted by Rep. Keith Ellison”) on Thursday. It was later deleted.
“As with all Twitter accounts a retweet is not an endorsement,” Ellison’s office said. “The congressman removed the tweet because it appeared to endorse use of a nasty term, which is not what we wanted.”
That excuse doesn’t really work when the tweet is in regards to a presidential candidate from the opposing party or when the retweet is of someone (in this case, “Tammy Talpas“) who isn’t the least bit newsworthy.
In February last year Ellison participated in an interview with Minnesota Public Radio in which he spoke on the importance of civility and inclusion. He didn’t say whether that includes douchebags.

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 4:18pmWe shouldn’t be surprised by such comments. This is the kind of rhetoric that comes from the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
Congressman Keith Ellison is one of the two co-chairs for the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

The Congressional Progressive Caucus includes or has included other such “well-respected, enlightened luminaries” of American politics such as …
* Nancy Pelosi
* Barney Frank
* Maxine Waters
* Dennis Kucinich
* Charlie Rangel
* Pete Stark
Again, no surprise.

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 7:16pmEllison is a punk. I remember he stood up for that Muslim Ambulance driver that helped people during 9-11 and later died. He said people put him down called him names and when the truth came out we find the man had been honored for his heroism. I am extremely tire of the left, especially twits like this guy, he serves the people and is so damn classless that he can’t control his inner whining brat and calls Romney a Heartless Douche-bag. People like him need to be eradicated from congress as that’s why our government doesn’t work. I think if your job is to serve the people have some damn decorum.

He’s up for re-election and my $$ is on CHRIS FIELDS ex-Marine running in the 5th in Minneapolis, MN
GO CHRIS FIELDS!!! Chris Fields for Congress in MN 5th District – NO MORE Ellison!
The RNC needs HELP here in MN. We’re Way in debt because of costs fighting Franken’s Senate race and costs fighting Dayton’s Governor race. Lost both because of VOTER FRAUD IN MN!!!!!!!
The Legislature passes Voter ID and Dayton vetoed it. But, now it’s on the ballot for 2012 and the people will, I hope, pass it.
