Romney campaign gaffe reeks of desperation

There are millions of unemployed Americans today and countless businesses which have closed up shop as Obama’s economic “recovery” lurches forward. It seemed like a natural choice for GOP challenger Mitt Romney to deliver remarks critical of Obama’s economic record in front of National Gypsum, a drywall plant in Lorain, Ohio, which was forced to shut down operations when the economy turned south.  The only problem: National Gypsum closed its doors four years ago during the Bush administration.Romney campaign gaffe reeks of desperation

“What we’re saying is, he has been given three years to turn the economy around and bring back jobs,” said Romney spokesman Ryan Williams. “He has had time and hundreds of billions of dollars to turn around the economy and he has not done that.”

But should Obama be linked to the Lorain plant’s demise?

City officials in Lorain question whether the drywall factory – which closed during the George W. Bush administration because of a construction industry slump — could appropriately be used to illustrate that message.

“When you have to clean up a mess that was created over eight years, you will not get it done in four,” said Lorain City Council President Joel Arredondo, a Democrat who attended Obama’s Wednesday speech. “After four years, we are better off than we were before.”

And just like that, an opportunity to draw attention to Obama’s abysmal economic record becomes fodder for Democratic talking points about Obama’s “inherited” crisis from a Republican administration.  The election is way too close to be making careless mistakes like this — especially in a swing state like Ohio — and if Romney keeps this up, the GOP has virtually no chance of retaking the White House in November.

    Mitt Romney said:

“He has had time and hundreds of billions of dollars to turn around the economy and he has not done that.”

Can’t you see that Romney is a statist?! He actually believes that GOVERNMENT SPENDING can help the economy!

My God, people, WAKE UP! He believes quite similar things about the economy as Obama!

Romney is going to be such a DISASTER because of his Keynesian economic beliefs – which include his corporatist economic beliefs.

ROMNEY IS GOING TO HAND THE LEFT A SEEMING IDEOLOGICAL VICTORY OVER THE FREE MARKET, JUST LIKE BUSH JR. DID!

Romney is NOT for the free market, and he will further destroy the economy in the name of the free market.

His business experience CAN NOT HELP HIM as President, because it’s a completely unrelated office.

His first mistake was giving a speech to an obvious Democrat stronghold!

If the GOP had any real intention of winning the WH in 2012 they’d have chosen the strongest candidate. Santorum climbed the polls with little money, and it was impressive. If Romney had been running his campaign on a shoestring, like Santorum, he wouldn’t have been in the running at all. I don’t think Romney can beat Obama & I don’t think the GOP cares.

Santorum was my pick from the beginning but, it’s too late for the dream! Romeny is a MUCH better pill to swallow then they fool John McCain in 2008! Romney will be our next President and he will govern a million times better then the imposter in the Whitehouse right now!!……IF, Romney knew better he’d pick Santorum as his VP choice!!

Santorum, with his views that women shouldn’t pursue a higher education or career, college is for snobs, people should only have sex in marriage and for procreation because having sex for fun is a sin, JFK makes him puke, his dislike of “bla” people and anti-war “nigs”, etc., could not win in a general election where, unlike in a primary election, it’s not just ultra-partisans who are voting. Anyone who thinks he could’ve won in the general election is living in a fantasy world. Oh, and cemerius, if you want to talk about “imposters in the White House”, let’s talk about the guy who lost the popular vote in 2000 and only won the presidency because of a crooked Florida Secretary of State, and only won the 2004 election because of rigged Diebold machines in Ohio.
