Caption that photo!: Ron Paul

No one knows what Ron Paul is still doing in the Republican presidential primary race. You almost want to take him by the arm and calmly lead him back to bed. But he says he has a plan. Or, he implied it on CNN earlier this week when he was asked why he has yet to concede the race to Mitt Romney.

“Well, it certainly isn’t for the reason of disrupting a convention as you were alluding to,” he said. “That is not in my plan. That is against my plan.”

Hmm. Okay.

In the spirit of Paul, who shows perseverance like no other, caption that photo!

We’ll run the winner and a few runners-up this weekend.

      @Miami,

      “We have serious problems in this country and we need serious people to deal with them. Not those who play the game as Rep Paul has said before with his ear marks.”

      The earmarks (aka, “allocations” of Treasury money that is intended to be appropriated if the Appropriations Bill passes) issue has already been dealt with.

      See here.

      In Defense of Ron Paul’s Earmarks

      And here.

      Earmarks Don’t Add Up
      http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul513.html

      “The misconception seems to be that members of Congress put together a bunch of requests for project funding, add them all together and come up with a budget. The truth is, it is not done that way. The total level of spending is determined by the Congressional leadership and the appropriators before any Member has a chance to offer any amendments. Members’ requests are simply recommendations to allocate parts of that spending for certain items in that members’ district or state. If funds are not designated, they revert to non-designated spending controlled by bureaucrats in the executive branch.” …

      … “If a congressman does not submit funding requests for his district the money is simply spent elsewhere. To eliminate all earmarks would be to further consolidate power in the already dominant executive branch and not save a penny.”

      Ron Paul is still in the race as he is winning. I find it hard to believe that most people on The Blaze are so misinformed that they do not realize how the primary election works. Paul supporters have been at this for four years, learning how the process works, recruiting more to learn the process, getting involved insrtead of sitting on the couch and listening to the media tell you who to vote for.

      Here is a picture for you: http://i.imgur.com/UvJTT.jpg

      Lets not leave out Mittens: http://imgur.com/siFYl

      The primary is not about the vote, it is about gathering delegates to vote at the national convention. Do any of you really think that with the thousands of Paul supporters, that have been preparing for four years, have learned the rules and process, are actively out there instead of sitting around listening to the media, will not be able to land 1144 + supporters as delegates to the convention? This is a small number compared to the thousands that show up to his rallies in every state. Wake up people, quit listening to the media, they are incompetent.

      This weekend Ron Paul attended a gala affair in his honor after the unveiling of his new signature line of Depends. Also in attendance was John McCain, celebrity endorser of the new Ron Paul designer diapers. Mr. Paul is seen here, (from the waste up thank goodness), modeling one of his new creations and demonstrating the effectiveness of it’s “No Leak No Mess” design features while ‘soiling’ himself. According to reports from other prehistoric politicians in attendance, a good time was had by all. Although, as evidenced in the photograph, it appears Mr. Paul had a few too many Howdy Doodys in preparation for the “No Leak No Mess” demonstration. Some in attendance even claimed that the demonstration was actually empromptu on Mr. Paul’s part. Do to the excessive amount of Howdy Doodys consumed.

      There is talk in the air by fashion moguls, that Mr. Paul will also be introducing a new designer “No Leak No Mess” product with the Ron Paul non-supporter in mind. This will greatly enlarge the appeal and sales base of this new product. It will be similar to the ‘signature’ series, but with the addition of a silk screening of Ron Paul’s likeness on the inside ‘seat’ of the designer protection. It’s said to be a way to remember Mr. Paul everytime one makes a “boo-boo”. Mr. Paul is considered a gracious man for making this designer upgrade just for non-supporters of his campaign for president.

      “This is very true, but so why is he such a hypocrite? Voting against his own earmarks, he says he does not support or votes for earmarks, he only playing the game.”

      You’re missing an important piece of information.

      Congress is supposed to control the spending, NOT the Executive Branch. But because Congress isn’t following the Constitution, what we have is an Appropriations process which leaves any unallocated appropriated funds to be spent by the Executive Branch. This is unconstitutional.

      So, in order to follow the Constitution, Congress MUST earmark (or “allocate”) the funds which are to be appropriated, otherwise it would result in the unconstitutional situation where the Executive Branch gets a slush fund, essentially.

      This is why Ron Paul says that ALL money that is to be appropriated should be earmarked.

      Ron Paul is being both consistent and Constitutional in his views on earmarks. If he had it his way, though, Congress and the Supreme Court would follow what the Constitution ACTUALLY says, and deny the Executive Branch their de facto slush fund, and then this wouldn’t even be an issue.

      @Miami,

      I forgot to mention why Ron Paul votes no on many Appropriations Bills.

      The reason is because he doesn’t think government needs to spend as much as it does.

      But he still must earmark (or “allocate”) the money which is to be appropriated, because if he didn’t, and the Appropriations Bill passed, then the Executive Branch would direct the spending of any unearmarked funds; And, again, it’s Congress’ Constitutional role to direct spending, NOT the Executive Branch’s role.

      ——————

      I agree that congress is the responsible funding branch, but the “earmark” format is a shortcut to the spending bill format. In it’s self it is unconstitutional to earmark unrelated spending propositions to structural laws as they did in ObamaCare. The Bill process has been turned into a joke.

      Just as running the government without a budget, it’s all a joke

      Gold regulations in a “Health Care” Bill, that has nothing to do with healthcare

      Congress (state and Federal) are the only power that is allowed to write the laws, yet we have the EPA, the Obama’s new Banking oversight comity (Dodd / Frank), The DOJ is picking what laws it wants to enforce and on who.

      The fact that earmarks have been done fore some time, does not make it right. That is what spending Bills are for, if it is a worthy expenditure it should stand on it’s own…!

      As it is now, it puts far to much power in D.C. when it should be done at the state level For example: why should Texas fund California’s Solar Panel experiments? I could go on and on, but if you don’t get it by now you just won’t

      @Miami,

      “I agree that congress is the responsible funding branch, but the “earmark” format is a shortcut to the spending bill format. In it’s self it is unconstitutional to earmark unrelated spending propositions to structural laws as they did in ObamaCare.”

      I think you still suppose that earmarking is when spending gets ADDED TO Appropriations Bills, but this is not the case.

      If the Appropriations Bill called for withdrawal of $100 from the Treasury, only $100 worth of earmarks could apply.

      And if Congress only earmarked only $50, then $100 would be appropriated from the treasury, and $50 (half of what was appropriated) would be allocated according to the earmarks, and $50 (again, half) would unconstitutionally go into a slush fund for the Executive Branch.

      So it doesn’t matter if $0, $50, or $100 worth of earmarks are part of an Appropriations Bill; If $100 is the amount of money to be appropriated from the Treasury, then if the bill passes, $100 will be withdrawn and spent – no matter what.

      Earmarks allow Congress to retain control of the spending, rather than giving the Executive Branch a slush fund.

      Rick Santorum understood this when he said that it’s easy for a Presidential candidate to be against earmarks, because to get rid of them would be giving the Executive Branch all of the money that came out of the Treasury.

      This is also why the Line Item Veto is extremely dangerous.

      @Miami,

      “That is what spending Bills are for, if it is a worthy expenditure it should stand on it’s own…!”

      Appropriations are only constitutional if they’re made according to law. So, I can’t imagine the purpose of a Spending Bill, other than to attempt to bypass the Constitution.

      See here.

      US Constitution, Article 1, Section 9

      “No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.”

      If that which a Spending Bill is intended to fund already lawfully exists, then I don’t see a need for a Spending Bill – it would simply be included in the amount of money to be appropriated in the Appropriations Bill. And if it’s not already lawful, then money may not be appropriated for it.

      A doctor’s labor – I’m voting for Dr. Paul in my state primary. I don’t agree with his foreign policy and I will vote Romney if he wins the primaries, but I just don’t like how the Media pushed Romney down our throats. I worry they have a plan too and it will not be good for conservatives.

      @deeberj,

      “I don’t agree with his foreign policy and I will vote Romney if he wins the primaries, but I just don’t like how the Media pushed Romney down our throats.”

      Thomas Jefferson and George Washington held Ron Paul’s non-interventionist foreign policy; Also, the Republican Party, itself, used to hold Ron Paul’s non-interventionist foreign policy.

      Third Annual Message to Congress

      “We have seen with sincere concern the flames of war lighted up again in Europe, and nations with which we have the most friendly and useful relations engaged in mutual destruction. While we regret the miseries in which we see others involved let us bow with gratitude to that kind Providence which, inspiring with wisdom and moderation our late legislative councils while placed under the urgency of the greatest wrongs, guarded us from hastily entering into the sanguinary contest, and left us only to look on and to pity its ravages.”

      “The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible. So far as we have already formed engagements, let them be fulfilled with perfect good faith. Here let us stop. Europe has a set of primary interests which to us have none; or a very remote relation. Hence she must be engaged in frequent controversies, the causes of which are essentially foreign to our concerns. Hence, therefore, it must be unwise in us to implicate ourselves by artificial ties in the ordinary vicissitudes of her politics, or the ordinary combinations and collisions of her friendships or enmities.”

      “Why? Because neither Romney or Obama support legalizing dope?”

      No, because they both think that the government can take your right to do whatever you want with your own body, whether it’s using dope, drinking raw milk, or being disgusting with your same-sex partner.

      Neither Obama nor Romney understand the Constitution.

      @ Doc

      Please tell me your not that ignorant? You do not have the right to do what ever you want with your life or body hence we are a nation of laws. Were your assement correct that would be the definition of anarchy. While raw milk is overboard for sure it is not the case with the other two. What about abortion? “It’s your body” they say but what about the babies body? Even if it were rape why would you punish the kid for the crimes of father?

      The truth of the matter is Libertarians dislike the idea of anybody being able to tell them anything no mater what it is, even if its that the sky is blue. However there are certain truths and natural laws that are unequivical. Both dope and sex fall in those categories. There is also always somebody higher than you, at minimum God. And no matter what liberals or libertarians want to claim our found was as a Christian nation.

      @Supermansdad, Yes we are a rule of laws. The supreme law of the land was supposed to be the Constitution. PROGRESSIVES broke that law when they justified policing those vices you mentioned at the federal level. Like it or not, you are a progressive. If you don’t believe me, which I’m sure you don’t, study the progressive era and how those laws you cherrish came about. The busy-body do gooders were the useful idiots to the Margaret Sanger’s and Woodrow Wilson’s at the height of the Progressive Era. Not a lot has changed really.

      @SUPERMAN”S DAD You sound like a really kind man..and I appreciate your stance..however.women who do not want to have children will abort them in back street abortions..We cannot force everyone into Christianity..but we would remain free to be Christians in order to spread the word of God..which is our duty as Christians to do ..and through the power of the Holy Spirit..many will be won..In the meantime..people doing drugs won’t stop..and people fornicating and committing adultery will not stop..until they have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior..Paul only wants to decriminalize at a Federal level…not at a state..A government big enough to give you everything you want..is big enough to take it all away..They enacted 40 thousand new laws and people are spending time in prison for something as insignificant as using the wrong type of barbeque grill..This country was founded on freedom..this is the first time in history where we really have 2 paths we can go on..it’s either Obama/Romney or it’s Ron Paul.. Let’s take freedom..we can straighten it out step by step,,instead of placing ourselves in a Communist prison.

      Just and Angry, Keep up the good fight for freedom. Most people have been lulled into thinking that we are a democracy instead of a republic. No worries though as Paul is winning. I truly believe that with his grassroots organization of thousands upon thousands of supporters, that he will go into the convention with well over 1144 supporters as delegates. Some, we are told, are bound to vote for Romney. That is a misconception and is just nudges (progressive tactic) in order to make people do what they want. The RNC and DNC are private clubs and have no say in who anyone can or cannot vote for. Rule 38 states that no delegate is bound to any candidate, and the RNC attorney stated in writing that no delegate is bound and every delegate can vote their conscience on the first round of voting at the national convention. It will be a great day.

      @ Supermansdad, Please tell this Marine, Libertarian, and Oath Keeper where you reside so that I can keep my oath and destroy an enemy of our Constitution and consequently an enemy of Liberty. Just where do you get off trying to tell me or anyone else that I do not have a right to do with my body as I see fit so long as it doesn’t affect anyone else through force or coercion? I’d really like to know how you make that leap. Do you really wonder why so many people in this nation dislike the “religious right” when they are trying to act as God and tell everyone what they can and cannot do? Well, actually, I take that back. God doesn’t even act as you do. God allows mankind to have FREEWILL and does not force you to do anything. In fact, if he forced you to do good, there would be no morality to your actions.

      So basically, my question for you is what are you going to tell Saint Peter or God himself when you get to those pearly gates and they ask you why you thought it would be okay to use the barrel of a gun and the force of government to tell others how to live their lives, thus stealing from men the freewill that God instilled in them through their divine creation? What are you going to tell them? I really want to know the words your soul will utter before being cast out.
