How exactly would MSNBC host define ‘heroism’?

Since MSNBC host Chris Hayes is “uncomfortable” labeling fallen soldiers as “heroes,” The Twitterverse wondered: How does one define #HayesHeroism?

Twitchy collected some of the best to help us clarify.  Here’s just a few:

How exactly would MSNBC host define heroism?

And then there’s Ann Coulter being… well, Ann Coulter:

The conservative blogosphere also responded to Hayes’ remarks in kind…

Wizbang’s Warner Todd Hudson wrote:

Happy Memorial Day, Chris Hayes. I’d like to remind you that many of those Neanderthals that you despise so much died for your right to hate them.

Tommy, a veteran, wrote at The Right Sphere about how he actually feels sorry for Hayes:

As a veteran, I couldn’t disagree more strongly with what Hayes had to say, yet I can’t quite bring myself to be angry about it. Instead, I find myself feeling sorry for him. I don’t feel sorry for him because of the giant crapstorm that has rightfully befallen him, but for another reason.

I feel sorry for Chris Hayes because sadly, this is his worldview. It’s how he thinks. It’s his value system, and it’s sad. This is a man who over and over again has spoken with greater reverence about the ‘Occupy Movement’ than he did today about our fallen service members. He’s painted ‘Occupy’ as do-gooders and the police as evil, and now says he’s ‘uncomfortable’ with referring to fallen as heroes. [...]

Worst of all, Chris Hayes has never had the experience of being a part of something that is greater than him. I don’t care that he never served. Serving is a personal choice and not required to comment. I don’t care that his show is nothing more than a weekly 2-hour commercial for Obama 2012. He’s a liberal shill, I get that. It’s what he is and what he will always be. I do care when he says things that are disrespectful to those that have given what Lincoln called “the last full measure of devotion.”

Newsbusters slammed the MSNBC host as the “human embodiment” of the term effeteaffected, overrefined, and ineffectual; see “Chris Hayes.”

All this criticism coming from the party where, an auditorium full of their followers booed an active duty military man in Iraq during their presidential debates. When you treat a man like that on the soil where he is fighting for your freedoms, you lose the high ground forever. The GOP can never claim their party supports the troops again.

Not only is the Hayes statement about heroics not his own,but sadly it is that of many more.I hope more pundits show their true form so we may all recognize them for what they are.I think however that it’ll be the same group of people who disapproved of every move Pres. Bush made but have thrills up their legs with the 1 in the White House now.The One now can do no wrong except green lighting countless drone strikes well, hard to get intell from smoking corpses.Hayes is obvious so is that channel he is working for.Mr. Ed and him may even car pool.

i can’t believe there is this much controversy over someone not labeling them as “Heros” its not like he called them murderers, nazis or terrorists like some Muslim groups upset about whats going in their country. I think Hayes is one of those folks that believes anyone who takes a life is evil and bad and his definition of a hero involves doing something that involves not taking a life. there are just those folks who think taking a life no matter what is wrong and hes one of those folks probably.

How insightful, a useful idiot, takes aim at those who can not defend themselves. This is sad, I almost feel bad for the man. The country is going through some bad times. Memorial Day is an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of real heros and bring people togather. These folks did not die for the Dems or the Rep, they were killed in the service of their country while looking out for those on their left and right, far from home.

Another opportunity to attack what makes America great. Good job.
