To help spread public awareness about the estimated 857 students nationwide who drop out of school every hour, the College Board placed 857 empty school desks on the National Mall in Washington, DC on Wednesday. The images are a powerful reminder — a sea of missing students:
The College Board is calling upon both President Barack Obama and GOP challenger Mitt Romney to make education a prominent issue in the 2012 election and to help put the nation’s schools back on track.
In related news, Gallup reports that Americans’ confidence in public education has reached an all-time low:

Jun. 22, 2012 at 11:56amI guess you could call my Younger Son a dropout … although I pull him out for such things as Avengers marathons or going to California for Older Brother’s Marine Corps Boot Camp graduation.
This is Younger Son’s senior year coming up, and we are homeschooling. NOT because he’s a bad student. But because our local high school is all about liberal agendas (LGB movement, global pick-your-favorite-horrific-season-here, Obama support, union support, et al).
Younger Son has a very keen eye for propaganda, and when studies were replaced with agendas, he stopped paying attention. At home is where he would read up on history and/or politics.
As for pulling my kid out for a day at the movies with Mom, are you kidding? It is my delight that I get to spend time with him out of the control of the liberals/socialists who want to brainwash my son for up to nine months of the year.

Jun. 21, 2012 at 2:48pmDoes the College Board have any suggestions as to HOW to put our nations schools back on track ? Here are some: Bible readings and Prayer; Discipline in school and at home; A course of study that would actually challenge the student, complete with homework; America’s schools actually RAISING their standards to the highest in the world; The dismantling of the Federal Dept. of Education and returning control to the local school board; The Complete Elimination of Political Correctness and a return to responsible free speech. How is that for a start ? God Bless America, again.
