re: Why not Paul Ryan? Because we said so

re: Meredith’s post.

True, as vice president, Rep. Paul Ryan could influence policy. But that’s about all he can do (and there’s no guarantee that will happen). As the chair of the House Budget Committee, he not only has the power and authority to shape policy, but he’s doing it right now.

Yes, recent VP’s have used the office a little more actively than, say, John Adams, but the duties and responsibilities are essentially the same: Attend social events and shake hands with important people.

Ryan can be much more effective where he is!

It’s like pulling a pitcher in the middle of a no-hitter so that he can help the guy in the bullpen warm up. Sure he can influence the outcome of the game, but he was doing fine where he was.

Also, if we want to keep this baseball analogy thing going, it should be noted that Ryan isn’t the only reliable pitcher in our lineup.

We say don’t pull him. Let him do his thing.

Presumed Republican nominee for president Mitt Romney has finally made a decision, selecting Paul Ryan as his running mate. Romney’s selection of Ryan sounds good on paper but his value might best be in the House of Representatives in his role as House Budget Committee Chairman.

Florida Representative Allen West may actually have been a better choice for vice president as he is highly respected Black Republican and Tea Party favorite, having served 20 years in the military. Mr. West is feared by top Democrat supporters as demonstrated by George Soros, major financial supporter of the Liberal Progressive agenda, who reportedly pledged $5 Million to defeat Allen West for re-election to the House of Representatives.

Obama’s massive media machine is already at work undermining the Ryan selection while political sages may make hay out of the Ryan budget plan that opponents claim will eviscerate Medicare and the education system. Ryan’s selection may divert attention from Obama’s failed economic first term and toward the negative possibilities of the Ryan tax and budget plan and further feed on the general dislike of Romney in the minds of voters..

Whether the Ryan selection is a winner of loser, tossing the “Ryan Fryan Pan” into the fire may create more smoke than fire. In the final analysis this selection may play into Obama’s devious hands as the emphasis will be upon the Ryan tax and budget proposals that despite their glamour on p

Decent analysis Mr. Adams, but you fail to recognize that congress never gets anything accomplished in the first place. So what, exactly, is there to lose by making Ryan the VP if his congressional position doesn’t really matter?

@Sum You are right and wrong. I would love to have Ryan there in the VP spot. It would put the final nail in Obama’s re-election coffin hands down. But like the post said above Ryan is much more needed where he is at. Can you imagine somebody else holding that spot? I can’t nor do I want to. He is vital there and when Romney whens the election the spot he is holding is going to multiply the power in the house. As the two links show there is plenty of fish in the sea. I’m betting on a surprise pick or boring candidate. I’m leaning toward the latter. (Mitch Daniels isn’t a good choice I think. I would put him under the ‘solid-but-still-boring’ category. This is coming from a Hoosier.)

What I just can’t seem to understand is why is everyone leaning toward a boring guy or Ryan? Why not West, or Rubio? See right there is two exciting people for VP. Two that would also seal the deal. Both can hold their own and go on the offensive. Both have spines, and both were elected by the Tea Party. Everybody wins! Well except for the Democrats but we forgot about them long ago…
