Obama: ‘We go after anybody who would attack Americans’
Aboard Air Force One today, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney shared more from the transcript of President Obama‘s to-be-released interview with CBS.
The part of the interview currently being played up in the media is where Obama says Mitt Romney “seems to have a tendency to shoot first and aim later.”
“The interview covered a lot of subjects and it covered a number of questions about the incident in Libya,” Carney said
Quotes from Obama that Carney shared via the CBS transcript:
–“I think most Americans, Democrats or Republicans, understand that there are times where we set politics aside, and one of those is when we’ve got a direct threat to American personnel who are overseas. And so I think that if you look at how most Republicans have reacted, most elected officials, they’ve reacted responsibly, waiting to find out the facts before they talked, making sure that our number-one priority is the safety and security of American personnel.
–”It appears that Governor Romney didn’t have his facts right…
More after the jump…
–”The situation in Cairo was one in which an embassy that is being threatened by major protests releases a press release saying that the film that had disturbed so many Muslims around the world wasn’t representative of what Americans believe about Islam, in an effort to cool the situation down. It didn’t come from me, it didn’t come from Secretary Clinton; it came from folks on the ground who are potentially in danger.
–”And my tendency is to cut folks a little bit of slack when they’re in that circumstance, rather than try to question their judgment from the comfort of a campaign office.
–”And I do have to say that, more broadly, we believe in the First Amendment. It is one of the hallmarks of our Constitution that I’m sworn to uphold. And so we are always going to uphold the rights for individuals to speak their mind. On the other hand, this film is not representative of who we are and our values, and I think it’s important for us to communicate that. That’s never an excuse for violence against Americans, which is why my number-one priority — and my initial statement — focused on making sure that not only are Americans safe, but that we go after anybody who would attack Americans.”
The interview was recorded today and will air on 60 Minutes this Sunday.

Posted on September 16, 2012 at 7:37pmThe film 2016 showed Indonesia, Kenya, etc. It appeared to me that people pick through elitist garbage for a job. The elitists use things up, dump it around out in the open and the poor have to live as garbage pickers. It seems whole communities, for the most part are just continually picking in garbage. This is where Obama wants to take America.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 12:40pmThe only people Obama and cohorts go after are American companies to produce brand names associated with America for decades. Obama is trying to stamp out anything associated with America. He is not fit to be in our White House, even if he was eligible, which he is not.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 12:38pmPlaying golf, basketball, campaigning and community organizing is not considered a major part of playing President, but then again, I guess he was told that is all he had to do. They would handle the rest. So far, it has had a lot of effect in that Americans are going to explode on this mess and when they do, some people are going to jail.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 9:39amDidn’t have his facts right? The only facts that matter are these: Americans serving in an official capacity were killed overseas; they were killed by muslims; our Government did not respond with force, but rather, with apologies.
Excuse me Mr. Carney/Obama: What other facts did Romney need to call you out for being weak?

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 8:30amMaybe if the Muslim protestors were more vocal in their opposition to late term abortion, birth control and homosexuality our very own President Obama would have reacted more strongly….after all, all they actually did was attack our diplomatic posts and kill four diplomats….move on, nothing to see here. Obama acted more strongly in the case of that Harvard professor (resulting in the beer summit) and the Treyvon Martin case.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 1:27amThe gutless, lilly-livered alleged ‘president’ occupying the White House hasn’t the huevos to attack Mexican mice crossing the border – let alone America’s enemies.
Obummer is a national disgrace – as are those who voted for this disaster on two-legs without vetting him. He has been Anti-American since his Kenyan birth.
What a waste of DNA.

MR. O supported the “Arab spring”. MR. O, via Hillary Clinton, gave $1.5 billion to the Muslim Brotherhood (not the Egyptian military) and wants to give them $1 billion more to purchase German submarines.
The blood is on HIS hands.

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 11:20pmIs Mr. Barak Heissein Obama (yeah it’s not spelled right I know…I have a hard time spelling muslim words) so daft that he thinks the attack was over a movie?!?
This was clearly a punch in the face on the memorial of 9/11. The world has become stupid. Whats right is wrong and what’s wrong is right.

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 9:49pmI was pleased to read and hear that Romney said we should not apologize for American values. We have nothing to apologize to those people for. Whether Obama likes it or not, as President, he is responsible for the statements issued by the government, even if they don’t come out of Washington, D.C. Romney was only saying that no apology should have been issued by the US for this incident. To my way of thinking the other governments involved should be apologizing to the US and that has not happened yet. With Obama in office, I doubt that the US will get any sort of apology.

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 9:05pmI have begun to suspect that OB is restating Romney/Ryan speeches. The talking points are strangely similar. And I know I heard the R&R team talk about these issues from the beginning of the campaign. OB if you can’t dazzle them with BS, then you’re going to baffle them with re-run of republican speeches?

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 7:47pmPolitical candidates have always gone after a president’s foreign policy. I recall one, THE ONE, Obama daily attacking the Bush administration over his handling of the Iraq war. I recall one Harry Reid saying, “This war is lost.” This BS that politics is set aside is a figment of Carney and his boss’s imagination.

That is an freudian amazing word picture, made by the liar in chief. I see a DOG chasing it’s own tail!
If there is anyone who is better at attacking Americans than this posPotus, we will never meet another. Just as much of a threat within than that horrific brutality of 9/11/12. Maybe, this wuss should not have missed all the daily meetings which entail security etc., of the country for whom he supposedly works (oxymoron).
