N. Korea rejects 3 million packages of Ramen noodle aid
North Korea has suffered severe flooding that has killed nearly 200 people since June, according to the AP. The impoverished country undoubtedly needs help but when South Korea offered aid, the North passed on it.
What South Korea planned on sending: thousands of pounds of four, medical supplies and also 3 million packages of Ramen noodles.
The North’s Red Cross Society … characterized it as a “negligible quantity of goods.” South Korea “seriously insulted us,” an unidentified spokesman for the Central Committee of the Red Cross Society said in remarks carried by the North’s official Korean Central News Agency on Thursday.

Posted on September 15, 2012 at 6:08pmSend to to Appalachia or the hood. We have some hungry people in America. Obama may think Raman Noodles would be like Skittles to those North Koreans and he could make some new friends. I am thinking the White House should eat the Remen Noodles and serve them at parties along with the pink slime meat. These would go along way to help balance some kind of food budgets there.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 9:24amHonestly, I don’t blame them. Have you ever eaten the stuff? Or read the ingredients? It’s 2 steps away from qualifying as garbage. The taste is “yuk” and it doesn’t last long. They’d be better off with pb&j sandwiches. That’s what I lived on as a single parent when I worked nights in a factory. It was my supper, and it lasted me till noon next day. Maybe they can use the Ramen as animal feed, or better, as weapons; ever been hit with one of those? Hard as bricks.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 10:21amNo disrespect intended, but have you ever tried to find American style peanutbutter in South Korea? I had to travel to Seoul from my city of Daejon to get some for my kids.
Other than that, as a famine food, ramen noodles are head and shoulders above beetle larva and earthworm soup (both real foods in the Koreas, FYI). North Korea is having a snit because they want the fancy stuff so they can commendeer the food shipments for their army. They don’t give a rat’s patootie about their people.
