Earlier today, Liz Klimas posted a story about this gigantic structure being built in China.

Whats the giant ring in China really all about?

A few of us here at TheBlaze are suspicious of the giant ring. What’s the real purpose? Is it something sinister? Could it be for entertainment or tourist purposes?

Perhaps it is meant to be a landmark and tourist attraction, like the Gateway Arch in St Louis.

Glenn Beck speculated that it might be a ride… possibly built to look like the big machine in 1997′s “Contact.” (coming to a Universal Studios theme park)

I wonder when they’ll realize they just made a tribute sculpture to a Japanese horror movie. Have they moved on to trying to steal credit for the folk tale that inspired it, rather than just foreign technology?

It is the new international offices for GM. It symbolizes their hollowed out core. “China took our doughnut and gave us the hole.”

I agree with the idea of it being a bladeless fan. I think it is the first attempt to stave off global warming and beggin cooling down the world one giant fan at a time!!!

This is not a sign of how predictable you are. It’s just standard math. It’s impossible to be on certain squares when he counts to an odd number. It’s impossible to be on the rest when he counts to an even number.

I like the fan theory, it’ll blow away all that smog. Once it hits our shores the EPA will jump in to save the day. A hefty 50% ‘China Clean Air Tax’ to be paid by any American caught buying products made in China.
