Rand Paul warns against GOP becoming ‘a dinosaur’

Many have speculated that the libertarian-leaning Sen. Rand Paul may be one of the top new faces of the modern Republican Party. If that’s the case, it sounds like there are a few changes he’d like to see made:

“I think my party, the Republican Party, is shrinking. We’re in danger of becoming a dinosaur,” Paul said. “We’re not competitive on the West Coast, we’re not competitive in New England.”

Paul went on to say that the GOP should look into adopting more libertarian policy ideas and be less aggressive on foreign policy.

“We need a new type of Republican, I think, one that involves some of the ideas of libertarian leaning Republicans and people who agree in a less aggressive foreign policy,” Paul said.

With his famous dad, Rep. Ron Paul, retiring at the end of the year, Rand seems poised to take up the mantle on behalf of constitutional conservatives.  On the issue of the impending “fiscal cliff,” the Kentucky senator insisted that entitlement reform be included in any deal and warned against raising taxes.

“The way I look at it is entitlements are broken, and it’s not my fault, it’s not Democrats’ fault, it’s because your grandparents had too many babies. It’s because we’re living longer. These are just facts,” he said. “Taxing anyone in a weak economy is not good.”

When the republican party embraces the country as whole, not just hard core christians, it will see the ranks increase. But it stuck with the extremist bible belt group and look what happened this election, the only votes Romney got were from the bible belt. Christian fundamentalists are the reason Obama won.

The Democratic Party and the “Republican” Party have been thoroughly infiltrated and compromised by the Communist Party. Amerika is controlled by us, not by the Democrat-Republican charade. Long Live the Communist International and the Muslim Brotherhood !!!

Opinion disagree; Republican Party is a dinosaur stuck in the tar mire of many progressives. Also yes it is these progressives and democrats fault, entitlement never really worked since they never really set aside the funds nor are they truly constitutional, nor banking structure stable nor many current family structure stable; you and your father are wrong to think of nuclear or other mass destruction weapons like normal war weapons in foreign relations, also because Rights are being stripped and controlled on federal level they must be protected and legislated on that level. republican progressives had their share of income tax pushing, of tax and spend, corporate cronyism, rights violating, corruption. Rand you are like Luther or Hus trying to reform popery catholic church they will either ignore you or try to destroy you. Time has come for whole new party but what will it be Obama’s change or new conservative vision? It will not long be as is because of economics, politics, life styles, demographics.

I’ve been a Republican since I was old enough to vote, but have always had many Libertarian leanings. I can see the wisdom in Rand Paul’s idea, but I do draw the line at some of the foreign policy stuff. I don’t believe for one minute we can solve foreign issues with Milk and Cookies and a softer stance.

How many billions of dollars is it costing America to support unmarried parents and their broods and even pay for abortions for those intent on killing babies? Why should it not be, as I pointed out, a crime to father/mother a child born out of wedlock? The child should not have to bare the burden of these sick azzed murderers? The people should have to pay for the support of their own children even if they are born out of wedlock. This should not fall on the shoulders of those who are (or would be) keeping the law if there was one? Put their sorry azzes out to work and take the children until they are able and willing to support these children on their own. Those bearing children who do not want them are putting not just their child at risk, but the whole nation.

Would it not make more sense to make it a crime to have children out of wedlock than to have a baby killed by abortion?

great idea! While we are at it, let’s make it a crime for women to drive! To paraphrase what a certain national hero once said, a man who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither.

The Democratic and Republican parties are misnomers. They need to be renamed the Progressive and Conservative Parties. Then all the progressives in the Republican party can depart to the proper side.
