Hey ABC News… do your homework. My D-I-Y Twinkie clip was part of a news story on TheBlaze

Here’s more proof that the MSM is as lazy and as clueless as we suspect.

On November 16th the story broke about Hostess Bakeries being forced out of business. That news was followed by the general freak out by some who worried that they would not ever be able to eat a Hostess Twinkie.

The very next day, Saturday, November 17th, I had a little fun and baked my own Twinkies, recorded the process (with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek) and posted the video on TheBlaze.

The story and the video did well, with more than 12,000 viewings, plus 110 comments and it attracted over 2,000 Facebook “likes.”

Apparently ABC News saw the video too. They used it in a report on their national news broadcast on Monday, November 19th. And, the reporter (Linsey Davis) referred to me as a Twinkie “fanatic.” (my video cameo starts at the 1:14 mark of the story).

Ms. Davis used TheBlaze exclusive video but never bothered to contact me about using it (not required, but good manners). She also did not ask any questions about my motivation for making the Twinkies or the video — nothing. And, my identity is not a secret. A quick web search would have shown her that I work at TheBlaze.

I’m frankly not too surprised by the sloppy reporting or lack of journalistic curiosity from someone at ABC News. After all, TheBlaze report on that story has notched almost twice as many views on YouTube as the ABC story.

    “Viva La Twinkies”??

I’ve never liked Twinkies, but Hostess has other tasty morsels, and the end of their 82-year run sucks as a single union takes down the company.

Like you, I find it…”humorous” that ABC/Lindsey Davis did a quick clip on the report. Not only did she not do her homework, she also gave the union a sympathetic light at the end.

Huh? Since a Mexican company is in the works to purchase Hostess, an American tradition, it’s all by ABC’s standards.
