Vice President Joe Biden made a trip to a newly opened Costco in the Washington, D.C. area today where he bought some things, including children’s books and a pie.

According to a White House pool report by McClatchy‘s Lesley Clark, Biden also perused the jewelry at the wholesale store:

Unknown if he bought a watch, though he spent considerable time at the counter looking at them, including a $1,200 one, and put in a call to his daughter, Ashley, saying he needed to “get some guidance.”

A White House official later told the pool reporter that Biden did indeed buy a watch. Just not the $1,200 one.

Obvious question: Costco sells $1,200 watches?
