Reminder: Who really pays the ‘fair share’?

An important reminder from Fox Business Network’s Liz MacDonald on who pays “fair shares” in the U.S. — and how the government and media just don’t get what the reality of our debt/deficit situation is.

D.C. is totally disconnected from reality.

I would be surprised if Obama actually puts forth any tax cuts worth mentioning. Our taxes in our restaurant have already gone up. So guess what, we have to raise our prices.

I hate hearing people talking about how they need more from the government. My favorite story is the people who are eating out at our restaurant (I was privy to this conversation) on their unemployment check rather than paying their mortgage. Then they tell us (who work at least 50-60 hours a week) that those horrible rich people, who hoard their money, do not pay their share.

Many Americans also believe that the debt will just disappear, like a bad dream. Who wants to bet that some kind of deal like giving Alaska to China might be in our future?

Obama doesn’t talk about the Actual Tax cuts he is going to make immediately. He never has any plan on paying on the Deficit. Spending is the problem. SPENDING is the problem and must be stopped. Everything is approved. Why, do you ask ? It is Ob’s plan to Bankrupt the country in a Powerplay,to take over the country, to Transform us. He has not been crowned. …………… yet.

We really need a Constitutional amendment establishing a flat income tax (everyone pays, corporations and businesses, individuals [rich, middle class and poor]) and round file the entire U.S. tax code and virtually eliminating the IRS. Everyone would have the ability to deduct up to half of their tax burden for business expenses (corporations and businesses) and charitable donations (corporations, businesses and individuals) but that’s it — every one still then pays at least 8.5 percent on their income. Part of the amendment would have to establish that Congress cannot spend more 90 percent of the last year’s Federal tax receipts. Only exception would be in a declared war (declared by Congress) where they could increase the tax rate (temporarily) an additional 5 percent, which is only good for six months, at which point continuing the tax rate have to be re-instated with a super-majority of both chambers of Congress and signed into law by the President. It would then have to go through the same procedure every six months and, if Congress fails to vote on the measure at all, this temporary increase ceases, period. And, while there is even a dime of Federal debt, all Federal employees (except military and law enforcement), appointees and elected officials go on a base pay only basis until the debt is fully paid off. Drastic, yeap, but only because our government has failed for years to keep their finances in order.

Drastic is the only thing that would work. I think America is already beyond recovery, but we could salvage something, maybe.

I would add getting rid of Minimum wage. This would be very rocky to start until equilibrium would be met. This would not effect jobs that are already paying above minimum wage. It would probably need some clause that it would be intended for food, retail, and other services that hire mainly teens and retirees. The teens b/c they have no work experience and these jobs are mediocrity for the most part. (Nicer places need nicer more qualified employees.) Most of the retirees I know personally need just part-time small jobs to waste time or earn just a bit more money.
As a business person, we need to take care of our employees to make a good business and in the end a good profit, so injustices would take care of themselves with time.

One more drastic thing to boost business and earn revenue while relinquishing government idiocy.

if the govt. stops spending on unneccessary crap and stops sticking their nose is everything that they were never intended to, maybe we could lower our debt. Also if we start making more jobs here that most people could do with or without the need for collage degrees more people could start working.

I think the deal making should stop and let the taxes go up for everyone. Obama will get his spending money from the additional revenue, EVERYONE will finally be paying taxes and once and for all people will see that the taxes are not be used for deficit or debt reduction but for additional spending. The idea that this deal will protect the middle class is pure fantasy as the middle class gets stiffed all the time. Now all of a sudden after 4 years of sticking it to the middle class the light has been seen to be different. Very doubtful. They want to take the Christ out of Christmas and replace it with Merry Taxmas and Happy Spending New Year. Or to be politically correct should I say Happy Taxday.

What is FAIR? It is fair for everyone who has taxable (GROSS) income to pay the same rate! So this tells me that Govt. waste, and abuse outweights what is FAIR!

Note to Washington: don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

Washington produces $0 in the grand scheme of things. Every dime spent or paid in income (definitely not earned) is taken from the tax burdens placed on those who actually work, invest and take chances.

The only people paying their fair share are those who are being villified for not paying more.
