Romney camp revisits the Eastwood speech

Russ Schrieffer, the guy who directed the Republican National Convention back in August, was asked at a conference last Thursday to to revisit the infamous Clint Eastwood speech.

The speech was widely criticized as a bizarre distraction from what should have been Mitt Romney‘s time to shine. Schrieffer confirmed the worst report: Eastwood was pretty much turned loose without any instruction.

From ABC News:

Russ Schrieffer: “I said [to Eastwood] are you going to do what we talked about, are you going to talk about what you talked about at these fundraisers. And he looked at me and said.. ‘Yep.’ ”

Laughter followed Schrieffer’s comments to which he replied:

“It’s Clint Eastwood, you can’t argue with him.”
