Report: Boehner caves? ‘The rich will pay more’

Ugh, via CNN:

Taxes on the wealthy are going up, House Speaker John Boehner conceded on Wednesday in challenging President Barack Obama to sit down with him to hammer out a deal for avoiding the fiscal cliff.

The statement to reporters reflected how negotiations on reducing the nation’s chronic federal deficits and debt have evolved since Obama’s re-election last month. [...]

“We have got to cut spending and I believe it is appropriate to put revenues on the table,” Boehner told reporters Wednesday. “Now, the revenues that we are putting on the table are going to come from guess who? The rich.

“There are ways to limit deductions, close loopholes and have the same people pay more of their money to the federal government without raising tax rates, which we believe will harm our economy,” Boehner said.

Taxing the rich is NOT to our benefit. When they start laying people off and raising their prices to offset the tax raise how does that help the middle class…especially the ones who are laid off?

Few blaze readers will qualify under the “rich” category, but do qualify as middle class or poor. So taxing the rich is to your benefit. I will be affected by it, so I have a legitimate gripe. I don’t want my taxes to go up exponentially to pay for the middle class or poor. It’s my money, I earned it and already pay a greater amount than most people.
