RTW = Freeloaders? That is not exactly sound logic since a very small portion of the union contributions go to real negotiations. More goes to lawers to enforce agreements and protect union member (if you want that then go ahead and join a union because the union doesn’t have to support you if you didn’t support them) and most of the money goes to campains of politicians who promise them the most at the expense of everyone else. Maybe if Unions had to convince people to support their union rather than force them into it then they would actually be more popular.

From the video, about 5-10 seconds before the punches started being thrown, the guy was in the front of the pack that Crowder was trying to keep back from the tent. Then, as the crowd is being pushed away and people are getting jumbled up, the camera goes wild, because the guy tripped. That’s why, once the camera gets realigned, you hear someone say “…assaulted me!” and the guy is on the ground, getting up, and lunges at Crowder.

He probably thought he was tripped deliberately or shoved or whatever. At any rate, he probably thought he was hit first and therefore had the right to “defend himself” by beating the **** out of someone else.

Not saying either side was right or wrong (I’m sure they both think they were assaulted first). I’m just saying these situations are inherently dangerous, because the littlest thing can set off the tinder box.

My job when I seperated from the military was working as a truck driver for Hawaiian Rock on Guan. At the time I was hired the union did not have a contract. When the contract was finalized I was told I had to join the union. I said fine I would take the paperwork and read it, sign it, and bring it back tomorrow. The union steward told me I did’nt have to read and to sign it right away or I couldn’t work. So I punched my time card out and went home. I was in no mood to be bullied around all for extra penny. That was Local 13 on Guam.

These people are thugs–I used to be in a union (CWA) and intimidation was one of the major things they were good at. However, they were not good at defending their members against AT&T management. In fact, when they wrote the last contract in 2009 I voted against it because I knew it gave the company all the power. I later found out they were more worried about getting an agreement than they were with getting a good agreement. They were quick to pat themselves on the back for what they were able to get in concessions. Just one problem–everyone who was part of that local are no longer with the company because they were more concerned with national jobs than they were local jobs. The dirty little secret is that we did not get pay increases that were close to cost of living during the twelve years I was a member and when AT&T fired me without real cause (later grieved and won by myself). States that are not right to work states have seen wages decline faster than states that are. If you look at the right to work map you will see that most of the states which have the best economies are also right to work. I paid $7000 in dues over twelve years and I had to go after the company myself–some union!!!!!
