LA Times on Scalia’s ‘hostility toward homosexuality’

The Los Angeles’ Times editorial today asserts (if all but directly) that Justice Antonin Scalia is a homophobe:

[Justice Antonin] Scalia’s basic argument can be stated this way: If laws against homosexual conduct are unconstitutional because they are rooted in moral disapproval, then by logical extension moral disapproval is an inadequate basis for any law, even one forbidding something as heinous as murder. Reduced to the absurd, the argument that moral disapproval is not sufficient grounds for a law means that there can’t be laws against homicide. It’s a logical, if abstract and not terribly helpful, line of inquiry.

But the reality — and perhaps this is what so dismayed Hosie — is that the Scalia opinions in question bristle with hostility toward homosexuality and homosexuals.

The Supreme Court agreed last week to hear two separate cases on same-sex marriage, hence LAT‘s issue with Scalia.

In a dissenting opinion on a 2003 case ruling on sodomy, Scalia said he had “nothing against homosexuals, or any other group, promoting their agenda through normal democratic means.”

As usual, the left is unable to conduct intelligent analysis/debate and haul out the same old labels…racist, homophobe”, etc. It is a monotonous drumbeat, but often loud enough to shut people up. Glad we have Scalia on the SC.

That line of thinking is flawed. Murder denies someone a natural right; a homosexual relationship is mutually agreed upon and denies no one a right. One is free to object on religious grounds, but one is not free to force others to live by ones religious code.

“Homosexuality” and “homosexuals,” as defined by the left, do not exist.* Thus, it is the LA Times editorial writer that is being hostile by promoting mislabels.

The Times writer should not promote mislabels, but should instead accurately describe the underlying reasons why persons misdiagnose themselves as being in a fictitious category.

This is just part of their (this writer and those like-minded) agenda. This is the case in most every instance.

There’s no scientific evidence to show that homosexuality is born that way and the problem with defining it by feelings is that feelings change all the time and can be very deceptive.
