Samuel L. Jackson takes a surprising position on gun control
While many politicians, pundits and outspoken celebrities are taking a firm stand in favor of increased gun control in the wake of last week’s shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, Conn., actor Samuel L. Jackson is taking a position that might surprise you.
“I don’t think it’s about more gun control,” said Samuel L. Jackson, who stars as a conniving house slave in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming revenge fantasy “Django Unchained.” “I grew up in the South with guns everywhere and we never shot anyone. This [shooting] is about people who aren’t taught the value of life.”
Parents and role models who emphasize that value, he said, will accomplish more than legislators reducing the number of firearms.
I actually couldn’t agree more.
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Posted on December 20, 2012 at 5:17amThis is a moral & social issue that affects HIS rights for a change. So, he does what every other Liberal does; he accepts truth and common sense, to which everyone responds, “Ooh! look how insightful and intelligent he is!”
He’s just a bigot with double-standards who likes to own a gun. Once he realizes he is untouchable and won’t HAVE to follow the new gun laws, trust me, he will flip like a Republican on the day after election.
And to think ageorge let THIS GUY be Mace Windu…

Posted on December 20, 2012 at 3:34amFor once I agree with Jackson. I wish he’d take a more active role in the black community about the parenting and role models he talks about. When you are born to a single mother with 4 siblings from different absentee fathers, there are few opportunities for values discussions.

Posted on December 19, 2012 at 8:29pmSometimes he seems so logical, and other times, doesn’t make any sense at all. Does this man sound like the type of person that would vote for a guy just because he’s black? No! Yet that’s exactly what he did.

Posted on December 19, 2012 at 7:01pmHey knuckle-head, stick to acting, OK. Yep, you are right on the money about the culture of death right here, right now, so why so you support the murder of innocent children thru abortion?

Posted on December 19, 2012 at 6:20pmHis stance doesnt surprise me at all simply because he is a typical hipocritical two-faced liberal, he happens to own a gun so now they are ok with him but if you believe in God he thinks your a fool and if you disagree with anything he or Obama says he thinks your a racist and the usual on and ons. Like I said, Im not surprised one single bit.

I guess some lives are of lesser value tha others, more specifically ones who have their heads politically screwed on more poperly.

Posted on December 19, 2012 at 5:05pmI agree with him to a point. But those who are born with no conscience, the voice inside that tells you what you are doing is wrong (especially mass murder!!), then simply teaching them the value of life won’t do a damn bit of good … it means nothing to them. We need better ways of determining whether or not someone has a conscience. Measure their propensity for sympathy and empathy. At a young age see how they act with other children and with animals. The signs are there from the beginning but how many people really want to admit that “their” child is a soulless, heartless, unconscionable monster. Ignorance and denial are bigger enemies to the human race than any gun or weapon could ever be!

Posted on December 19, 2012 at 3:24pmJackson’s right – as far as he goes. and that’s only part way.
It is about up-bringing, values and all of that – but it’s not ALL about that.
It’s not ALL about gun-control, but it is partially about gun-control.
It’s not about any one specific thing, and won’t be corrected by one specific action. These things and more must be attacked.

Posted on December 19, 2012 at 3:00pmUnfortunately everything this moron says will be taken with a grain of salt. He has spent so much time making half the country hate him that he will never be believed. For example when I hear him say this I tend to believe that he is concerned that the Black Panthers will get disarmed. Sorry, Sam, I don’t trust you. Hell I don’t even like you.

Posted on December 19, 2012 at 12:56pmI’m kind of surprised he would make a statement like that, given the movie he just made. I really think movies and video games desensitize us to death and murder. Combine that with the elimination of Judeo-Christian values and the availability of guns (or any number of objects that could be used as weapons) and you have the recipe for disaster.
The right to keep and bear arms is necessary for the protection of our freedoms, and violent entertainment falls under free speech. That makes Godly values VERY important to hold our society together (duh). That is where we need to focus our efforts if we are to keep mass killings from happening over and over again.
