National Review seeking final $20K for its lawsuit

The conservative National Review put out a call for donations from supporters earlier this month to battle a lawsuit its facing from Dr. Michael Mann, a professor  at Penn State.

Jack Fowler, the magazine’s publisher, said the publication is “not profitable” and thus needs to raise $150,000 to defend itself in the lawsuit. In a recent update, NR says it has raised $129,000.

Mann filed the suit against NR and one of its writers, Mark Steyn, back in July for a column Steyn wrote. In the column, Steyn alleges Mann attempted to cover up data damaging to the science behind global warming. Steyn also compared Mann to Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State football coach convicted of child molestation.

See the ridiculous graphic NR is using to solicit donations after the jump…

I hope they are suing the person who actually made the comment Rand Simberg that Mark Steyn referenced in his article. http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/309442/football-and-hockey-mark-steyn

We have beautiful hills to our south now covered with windmills that make it look like a pin cushion and the government owns the major part of the desert here I don’t see any windmills there. Its all a racket. People that are so worried about global warming will not even be dust when the sea levels rise. Its all politcal.

    Aloha All,

The article’s graphic is a clever, tongue-in-cheek image–whether or not you like the viewpoint expressed. Cut the article’s author some slack.

As to the monstrously unfair aspects of our civil legal system, I won’t go there except to note that the attorneys always $eem to gain. With enough resources (read paid-up fees), it is possible to smear and break anyone using the formal levers of our system. Government agencies are the prime offenders. Second in status are those who benefit from government policies or financial support. Third…[use your own discernment].

Back to Topic A, Global Warming: The Earth was ice-free for most of our planet’s history. At this point, we seem to be returning toward age-old homeostasis after an unusually cold period. And every other planet in our solar system is likewise warming. So…could solar radiation somehow be involved in this pattern?

Use your unfailingly accurate, in-born, internal truth meter to arrive at a simple YES-or-NO answer.

P.S. FYI, even Silicon Valley VC’s are beginning to shirk putting good money into ‘green’ investments.

Taking a little editorial license there, Eddie Scarry?

What does the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have to say about global warming?

“Greenland is rapidly melting and holds enough water to destroy 30 million American homes by raising sea level 20 feet.”

    http://www.climatewatch.noaa.gov/article/2012/summer-2012-brought-record-breaking-melt-to-greenland

What do republicans have to say about global warming?

“David H. Koch claims global warming is good because ‘Earth will be able to support enormously more people because a far greater land area will be available to produce food’.”

I don’t think flood insurance is going to protect anyone from this magnitude of stupidity.

I REPEAT DID NOT SUPPORT GLOBAL WARMING WAS HAPPENING.
Plus the NOAA in the past have said it would take 100 years= a CENTURY FOR THE OCEANS TO RISE ONE INCH=1 INCH

Right crack-head, and most of the organizations you cite still regard the East Anglia false prophets with kudos and credibility.

climatedepot.com skewers global warming hyperbole and it’s father, Scientist and noted Climatologist Algore, who is raking in billions from crackheads the world over…

My God. I don’t know about you there Dough, but seeing this guy photoshopped as a snowman with a hockey stick seems pretty ridiculous to me… Calm down and stop taking everything so serious on the internet! Geez.

Sorry to twist your skivvies. I also comment/contribute on Anthony Watts’ WattsUpWithThat.com, “The world’s most viewed site on global warming and climate change”, where Michael Mann is roundly and soundly criticized.

I take most everything seriously, not having seen any comedy beyond slapstick for years.

      Hey Buchanan.

This is a report. An article. It’s supposed to be unbiased, as this IS Glenn Beck’s “The Blaze”. When a reporter takes to editorializing his own story, the whole story is subject to rebuke. It’s about credibility. Nothing more and nothing less. Doug nailed it (as usual).

Looking at this blog (bla-bla bla-bla log), does Scary’s opinion come through?

He say’s the graphic is ridiculous. Seems quite simple and on point. Or does Scary have a position on warm-ism?
