Proposed gun law wouldn’t ban guns, but…

…it would raise more revenue for the government — you know, because the price of keeping our children safe comes in the form of higher taxes, or something:

The National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action warns gun owners that Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s new assault weapons ban would impose a $200 tax on hundreds of existing semi-automatic rifle models.

According to Feinstein’s bill summary, the legislation requires owners of semi-automatic rifles – deemed as assault weapons – to register their gun with the Federal Government under the National Firearms Act.

The National Firearms Act, first enacted in 1934, was passed to choke the sale and transfer of automatic weapons.

Under the current NFA, owners of automatic weapons are allowed to keep their weapons but requires an owner to submit photographs and fingerprints to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).

A $200 tax on an NFA firearm is imposed each time a NFA weapon is registered or transferred to a different address. Presumably, each weapon registered as an NFA firearm would be subject to the same restrictions.

I’m on the left and I don’t support gun control. I voted for Obama because I supported a few key policy points and Ron Paul wasn’t going to win.

Every gun owner should join NRA or GOA. This will be the biggest challenge in our lifetime.

The libs have been waiting for this moment. I wonder if they’ll actually attempt to address crime or mental-health issues. I doubt any meaningful changes on that end.

I think the reason that they chose Biden is because he has a record of never being correct.

Feinstien is a fraud. Search youtube for mark levin video clip that has her on RECORD admitting to arming herself, and wait for it…getting a liscence to carry. She says and I quote “if anyone was going to take me out, I was taking him with me.”

While the government wants to set up legislation for gun control, they forget that criminals will always find a way to get around the system and still have guns in their possession. It is the law abiding citizen that will be affected the most when wanting to purchase a gun.

Pricing citizens out of gun ownership has the same effect as banning the guns outright. Those with wealth and power will still have access, and criminals will still get their hands on guns too. That leaves the law abiding poor and middle class citizens defenseless. And that is the REAL goal.

  You hit the nail on the head. Over the years we are not given more rights as individuals but rather they are slowly but surely stripped away. And not necessarily by force. Over the years liberals convince the general public you NEED government and you WANT this legislation to fix things outside of YOUR control. You know because control and legislation saves the world, I mean, look at Chicago, IL. Near highest murder rate in the country under the reign of the strictest gun laws in the country.. It worked there didn’t it? Let’s expand that intelligent intellect across the nation and see what happens. BRILLIANT.
  
  In the late 1700′s Thomas Jefferson was under the impression that our government was overflowed with parasites and needed to be eased back and given more power and control over self to the citizen. Imagine what he’d be thinking today.

The left is going to push and push until we push back and they’re not going to like it when we push back……. Our freedoms are being stripped from us on a daily basis.. anyone who doesn’t think so is a fool… the worst thing that could have happened for america has already happened.. the relection of the communist in chief….
