Ted Nugent sounds off on gun control in open letter to Joe Biden

Defending the 2nd Amendment as only he can, The Nuge is extraordinarily diplomatic:

Joe,
Congratulations on your appointment to lead a presidential commission to end gun-related violence.

As a National Rifle Association board member, husband, father, grandfather, law enforcement officer and genuinely concerned American, I too want nothing more than to see evil, senseless massacres stopped. I concur with the president and caring people everywhere: It’s time to end these slaughters.

As you gather your team to study massacres and how to stop them, I offer to you my services and a lifetime of expertise on guns in all their implementations. While I strongly differ with President Obama on many issues, I agree with him that we must work with all we can possibly muster to end these tragedies.

As you begin to formulate your thoughts on how to proceed with your task, I hope your starting point is to provide the president with the facts regarding these slaughters and to offer him common-sense recommendations that are void of a political agenda and will actually make a meaningful difference. If the American people smell a political agenda here, that will only bog down our efforts.

In the spirit of goodwill and a deep desire to end gut-wrenching, incredibly sad and senseless rampages, I offer you the following recommendations…

I live by a simple principle. You stay out of my life, I stay out of yours. Yet there seem to be many who choose to live by the exact opposite principle. Oddly, calling themselves, liberal, or democrats, or even more ironically, progressive. I marvel daily at the laws the espouse. Encroaching daily on the live of others. All in the name of the “people”, never “individuals”. This may be confusing I suspose.

I guest the best way to some up the irony would be to share a little anectdote. I watched a movie. A character goes into a smoking restaurant, and badgers a smoking patron, due to their smoking. Now why the person would ever enter such a restaurant is beyond me, but for the sake of example, we will let it play, we all know the type. The state happened to be a so-called fly-over state, which is of itself a puzzling concept. But, we all know the type. I usually never watch the trailers but for whatever reason the film ended and defaulted into the trailer. Then the same bard who played the character who complained about the smoking spoke of taking flights back to a coastal city on a regular basis. Interesting. Now, that jet, spewing all those toxic hyrdocarbons into the atmosphere of the flyover states causing acid rain caused no more harm than the cigarette than than the character the bard played complained. What is the point? Stop flying over our states, if you disagree so much with smoke. BTW, I do not smoke, but your jet does.

Great letter, do you think Joe will read it? In any case, the whole issue here is mental illness. This kid should have been in serious treatment and on medication. I’m not sure if the mother knew how bad he was but if she did, she should never have let him near those guns or even told him about them. They should have been locked up in a safe while he was around.

It was fun reading the comments on wapo. I love the conservatives who have the patience to debate with the leftists over there. It’d make me nuts! I have enough with their occasional drive-bys here.

It is after all guns in the hands of good citizens that won this country its freedom and independence.

In China, in 2010, 20 grade school children were killed by a knife carrying crazy, in 2012, 24 children more grade school were badly injuried by another knife baring crazy. The theater incident in CO was terrible but without a gun this crazy had the knowledge, money and expertise to build a bomb and carry it into the same theater, in the same back pack and the dead would have vastly out numbered what he acheived with his gun.

Old Ted, said it right, we have no programs to educate people on how to spot a potential crazy. To report someone now would leave you open to lawsuits in the event you were wrong. We changed that law protecting those who report child abuse and have laws to prosecute those who make false claims intentionally. Everyone who knew the fellow that shot Senator Gabby Gibbs knew he was very scary. But no one wanted to risk being sued included his mental health provider. The same can be said about the last four or five madmen that were left to their vises until they took that final step and then it was too late. We spend too much time and effort being politically correct and fearful of lawsuits.

Uncle Ted should be in the White House.

I’d vote for him in a heartbeat.

Ted’s letter and offer make sense is well thought out and is logical.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit the Liberal template on gun violence. He11 mostly likely will freeze over before a Washington panel or commission would put Ted Nugent on it. Look to see the commission stocked with all the same anti second amendment types, with maybe one wishy-washy gun supporter so they can claim bi-partisanship.
Any commission on this will inevitably lead to an attempt to restrict the second amendment. Just by the name, you can see it is looking for a predetermined outcome. Commision to End Gun Related Violence.
Since the violence is gun related, then it must be the gun is the issue. If you really wanted to get at the root, then the commission’s name would be “The Public Violence Commission”. Then you would be open to all the causes of the mass killings, not just guns.
Words matter, and what you name things matters.

You are right. Their agenda needs the people disarmed so there will be lil t no opposition when they try to force their socialist utopian takeover upon us. You can’t enslave the people if they have a means to fight back and defend themselves. They act as if there isn’t empirical evidence showing that dense areas with more l egal gun ownership = significantly lower gun crime rates than places like Chicago where legal guns are non-existent have gun crime rates that are astronomical…there is no argument that gun control creates gun violence or at least leads to an environment where it can and will flourish. If I wanted to rob a bunch of people at gunpoint a “gun-free” zone is the perfect spot to do it since you know there wont be any armed opposition…kinda like putting a helpless sign in bold letters on the house of a rich but feeble elderly couple’s house who live near a ghetto, something is bound to happen.

Ultimately the left doesn’t care about the Constitution, freedom, or liberty…only advancing their twisted views and agenda, most of which is based on fleeting emotion with no logic, reason or common sense and definitely no facts to back it up…a liberal with facts becomes a conservative…
