Teachers group recruits Bill Ayers for conference keynote

The Association of Teacher Educators is an interest group dedicated “solely to the improvement of teacher education.” Its members represent over 700 colleges and universities and over 500 major school systems across the country. Next month, the group will gather in Atlanta, Ga., for its annual meeting. This year’s conference theme is “Living and Learning across a Lifetime,” and the group is looking for sage guidance from… Bill Ayers.

Yes, that Bill Ayers.

So what does the group hope to learn from a domestic terrorist-turned-university professor?

Charlie Spiering got the low-down straight from the ATE:

The organization’s executive director, David Ritchey, confirmed that Ayers would be a keynote speaker at the conference although he admitted that he wasn’t involved in the selection process.

Ritchey added that although Ayers was a controversial figure he had been invited due to his “work in the education field, apart from all the other stuff.”

Not surprisingly, the ATE conference website makes no mention of that “other stuff” from Ayers’ background — because why would co-founding a revolutionary communist group be noteworthy?

A known, convicted terrorist, admitted communist activist and atheist, America hater and “The Association of Teacher Educators dedicated….. “solely to the improvement of teacher education,” wants Bill Ayers to instruct and educate them on anything ?????? What the hell…… where’s the Patriotic American Parent’s outrage over this? Why are you all being so silent? Your children’s future and very lives are being tampered with here. Any wonder why the majority of the youth of this country voted for Hussein Obama. “The only thing evil needs to flourish is for good people to do nothing”. Is this not proof enough for you that the American government education system has been over run by liberal socialist, with a communist agenda, that want to learn even more about how to be a good communist and indoctrinate your children? How much more proof do American parents need to figure out that their kids are being brainwashed in public schools against our Country and it’s constitution and that they should get them out of there and make other arrangements for their education?

Okay, so if Hitler had lived, the teacher’s group would invite him and give the reason: due to his work “in leadership positions, not the other stuff”

I would be tempted to salt the room with people primed to ask embarrassing questions like

“The internet hadn’t been invented yet so you couldn’t have just downloaded them… where did you get the instructions for how to build those bombs ?”

“What was the hardest thing you had to deal with when you were on the run from the cops after setting that bomb?”

“Why do you suppose they picked a convicted terrorist to be the keynote speaker here tonight?”

No fuss and feathers, no rowdy hecklers, no excuse to call the cops and get someone thrown out … just D@% embarrassing questions.

  Yes. The world has gone a bit nuts. Occupational hazard, sanity is endangered by the way the system is set up. They are judged by peer review, not by reality. I really appreciated a book called Intellectuals and society … it made sense out of how these “smart people” go so far off the rails.
  
  Perhaps it is selective amnesia. Whoever chose him may only have been familiar with his work as a writer of textbooks, and so on…. The “bad old days” probably don’t get talked about much around there.
