I was astounded to hear Secretary of State Hillary Clinton respond to a senator’s question today by saying, “What difference at this point does it make?” Clinton’s point was that Obama’s State Department was working to ensure American personnel would be safe in the future — whether or not there’s an active protest going on or not.
Ok, I can sort of understand that. But come on.
“What difference does it make?”
Clinton of all people should know there’s a big difference between the truth and a lie (or lies). She of all people should know that the American people deserve to know the truth about what happened and how our personnel wound up dead on September 11.
After my outrage at her comment, I actually chuckled a bit. I wondered how other political scandals would’ve unfolded in the past if the person at the center of it tried this defense…
Richard Nixon won re-election in 1972 anyway, so what difference did it make that his staff broke into the Watergate?
Liberals like to criticize Ronald Reagan over the Iran-Contra Affair. Perhaps conservatives should now respond to their condemnation with, “What difference does it make?”
I can’t say that I blame Clinton for trying. After all, this is typical thinking on the part of Democrats. Chappaquiddick couldn’t put a dent in Ted Kennedy’s reputation, and to this day, most Democrats still defend his legacy on the grounds of, “What difference does it make?”
The “difference” in the case of Benghazi is the truth. Let’s get one thing straight: Secretary Clinton works for the American people, not the other way around. And so when her boss comes around to ask her some questions about her job performance — no matter how pointless she thinks they may be — she’s expected to answer them. If she doesn’t like it, she should get a new job.

Righteous indignation is usually the strongest sign of ineptness!!!

You want the truth to come out, try this link to declassified briefs which Senator Paul hinted towards in his questioning.

You’ll have to cut and paste it as the link doesn’t seem to be hot.

not hardly. This issue is already dead, nothing will happen. Nobody will be held remotely accountable, no different than fast and furious. The media will ignore it, and the weak kneed repubs will not press this much further

Jan. 23, 2013 at 4:41pmSort of like her answer on sending help. She was asked about the 7 hour firefight and not sending help, her response was “everyone agrees we didn’t have the time needed to have effectively changed the outcome or to have helped. Really? So, when you heard the consulate was under attack, you magically knew that the attack would be over in 7 hours so you knew you didn’t have time? I mean you knew not to send help because in 11 hours you would find out where the body of the Ambassador was, though you didn’t know at the time if he was alive or dead or where he was. See, the idea of sending help is get assets moving in that direction as soon as possible. What if the firefight had lasted 8 hours, or 10, or three days. At what point would you say, “gee I think we have time to send help, look like this will last a while.” If you had imeadiately sent help, and they didn’t get there in time, then I would say “yep, you didn’t have time.” But you didn’t send any help. You didn’t TAKE the time to send help. If your house was on fire would you calculate the probable time it would take to burn to the ground and then decide if calling the fire department was “worth it”. Even if the end was inevitable, if you were in Benghazi don’t you think you would like to know help was on the way?

Jan. 23, 2013 at 9:16pmExcellent points! What difference does it make? The difference between the American people hearing the truth from those who supposedly “serve” us and those who think they need to “protect” us from their dirty deeds. I’m sick and tired of being nannied to death. How about some personal responsibility… that’s what DC is lacking; along with a huge dose of honesty! It’s time for Congress to convene a special committee–like the Watergate hearings & Clinton debacle. Someone needs to be held responsible; and Hil’s histrionics just aren’t cutting it for me.
