Cory Booker to the rescue! (again)
Last spring, Newark, N.J., Mayor Cory Booker helped rescue his neighbors from a house fire.
Two months later, Booker randomly showed up at the scene of a car accident and aided a pedestrian who’d been hit.
Now, Booker has come to the rescue again — this time for a freezing dog.
Local WABC reports:
Eyewitness News reporter Toni Yates and her crew spotted a dog left out in the cold in Newark Thursday evening.
She and her crew stopped back several times to see if the dog had been taken inside, but it had not and they noticed that the dog was shivering in the cold.
Yates tweeted a message to Newark Mayor Cory Booker and Eyewitness News reporter Darla Miles also retweeted her tweet to her followers.
Booker saw the tweets and responded to the scene where he found the dog shaking in the cold outside.
“This is brutal weather, this dog is shaking really bad and you just can’t leave your dogs out here on a day like this and go away and expect them to be ok. Hypothermia on any animal including a human animal will set in pretty quickly. So this is very sad, you can just feel the dog shaking pretty badly,” Mayor Cory Booker said.
Mayor Booker loaded the dog into a police car and they called the dog’s owners to tell them that it was unacceptable to leave the dog outside in the cold for so long in freezing weather.

Posted on January 27, 2013 at 9:39pmThe912Project: yeah your right, they leave a poor dog to freeze for a photo op. Real nice people. However, at least he got a warm place to get to. Anyone who leaves a pet to freeze in this weather, needs to be seriouly looked at for animal cruelty. Sorry, but if you have a dog or cat outside in that weather, you really need to find another kind of pet, like a Chia Pet.

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 5:39pmSo Toni Yates, the reporter, left the freezing dog but tweeted about it? Um, ok. Great that Booker responded but perhaps Toni and her crew could have done something sooner! ?
