The sequester, which contains big cuts to both domestic and defense spending, goes into effect at the start of March. It’s something most elected officials say (at least in public) they don’t want.
Conservative Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer is all for it. He gives Republicans the go-ahead today:
Tuesday, Obama urgently called on Congress to head off the sequester with a short-term fix. But instead of offering an alternative $1.2 trillion in cuts, Obama demanded a “balanced approach,” coupling any cuts with new tax increases.
What should the Republicans do? Nothing.
Republicans should explain … that in the fiscal-cliff deal the president already got major tax hikes with no corresponding spending cuts. Now it is time for a nation $16 trillion in debt to cut spending. That’s balance.

Feb. 10, 2013 at 12:06pmThe GOP will be blamed regardless (and are also at fault for many issues). I agree with Charles Krauthammer, let the sequester happen! “What difference does it make”? ; )

Feb. 9, 2013 at 10:55amIt is unfortunate to come this far, but I agree; let the sequestration take place. I suggest Republicans come up with recommendations on where in military spending the cuts can be made. If not, the care less Democrats will immediately apply the cuts where they hurt our country the most. Not one desk job will be lost, but our troups will have a meal cut out of their diet to save money. There is no doubt in my mind they will blame these stupid cuts on the republicans, when in fact, it is they who are being irresponsible. Republicans should be prepared for this.

Feb. 8, 2013 at 9:16pmThe Republicans got NOTHING out of the Sequestration deal, Now it’s time for Obama’s dependents to get NOTHING from the Republicans. The DoD(o) will figure it out even without Hagel.
