Joe Scarborough warns GOP about defunding PBS

A new survey by the Democratic polling firm Public Policy Polling showed that PBS is the most trusted TV news source. MSNBC host and former Republican representative Joe Scarborough says it’s a finding the GOP should consider carefully.

He writes in Politico:

So the network that Republicans like myself have been trying to defund for years is now easily the most revered in America. …

All other networks were mistrusted by a plurality of voters.

The survey’s results will have little impact on future elections but Republicans should view the poll as another example of how political attitudes have shifted under their feet on issues immigration, universal background checks and now the public funding an institution that conservatives believe should financially rise or fall on its own merit.

PBS is partially funded by federal tax dollars and during the presidential election Mitt Romney famously said he would “stop the subsidy to PBS,” despite having “love” for Sesame Street’s Big Bird.

His buddies on the Left are Bankrupting the Country and he’s worried about the conservatives shorting money for PBS. A Man who cares.

We should start somewhere and PBS makes a lot of money of their own. This is as good a place as any. They’ve spent all of my money, my kids, grand kids and have started on my great grand kids. PBS doesn’t need it!

  This is a battle worth fighting! Time to stop spending/ throwing money down the sewer. PBS makes a lot of money of their own they don’t need my grand daughters. they’ve already spent/ wasted all mine and my kids and this is only a start!!
