Liberal Senator defends drone policy as ‘civilized’ way to fight
Maine Sen. Angus King may be an Independent who caucuses with Democrats, but he didn’t hesitate to toe the party line this morning during an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Although he admitted drones are a bit “creepy,” King insisted that the unmanned aerial vehicles used by the Obama administration were a “more humane” way to fight a war than weapons of the past.
WATCH:
“To be honest, I believe drones are a lot more civilized than what we’ve used to do, you know, when Sherman shelled Atlanta or when the Allies firebombed Dresden in World War II; it was all collateral damage, it was virtually all civilians,” King said. “And that was the way of war until recently. The drones, although there is some collateral damage, basically is a very smart artillery shell, and we’ve been shooting artillery shells over miles and miles for many years and hoping they hit the right target.”
“I think there’s just something creepy about drones that they can be controlled and people are uneasy about it, but if you put in the context of a thousand years of war, I think it’s actually a more humane weapon because it can be targeted to a specific enemy.”
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Posted on February 10, 2013 at 9:14pmCivilized? When you blow people apart with high explosives, there absolutely NOTHING civilized about it.
The senator just doesn’t have to see the blood, guts and organs blown all over the place and the smell of burning human flesh.

Posted on February 10, 2013 at 1:05amanybody else read this and think of Star Trek’s “A Taste of Armageddon”?
It’s as if he said, “You know, war sucks, but if we sanitize it, I guess I could tolerate it a bit more”
Well, news flash bub, the uglier and dirtier war is the more most of us HATE it and will do whatever it is to avoid it, or if it is necessary be QUICK and DECISIVE. Pansy wars are what suck…
