S.E. Cupp and Joe Scarborough take aim at conservative media
Political commentators Joe Scarborough and and S.E. Cupp are two of the most prominent conservatives in media willing to criticize other conservatives in a big way.
Both work for MSNBC (which they both acknowledge is a left-leaning news channel). Both wrote columns today targeting their colleagues in the conservative media business.
“Conservatives should celebrate the gains they have made in the media world over the past two decades,” Scarborough wrote for Politico. “But their greatest challenge moving forward is to begin breaking down the walls they have built that keeps them locked inside a comfort zone that distorts political reality and cedes great advantages to Democratic candidates. What conservatives must do instead is dare to think different, apply eternal truths to current realities and then start spreading their gospel of conservatism to the swing voters who have rejected them in five of six presidential races.”
A New York Times Magazine feature this weekend questioned whether the Republican Party can be “saved from obsolence.” In the piece, Cupp is quoted as saying “we [on the right] can’t be afraid to call out Rush Limbaugh.”
After facing criticism from the conservative blogosphere, she dug in her heels in a column for the Daily News today…“[T]he point I was trying to make was that the impulse to defend anything and everything that a party heavyweight says — to the death — has the deleterious effect of making conservatives seem irrational and herd-like,” Cupp wrote. “No one is right all the time, and no one is above reproach. Limbaugh, who has frequently criticized Republicans, knows this better than anyone.” She added: “We’ll never win credibility with new voters if we insist everything that every conservative says or does should be defended and justified.”
(Cupp is also a contributor for TheBlaze TV.)
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Posted on February 22, 2013 at 3:35amIs this what The Blaze has become? Since when was Joe Scarborough ever a Conservative? Apparently Eddie Scarry thinks Colon Powell is the best kind of Republican if he believes what he writes. Cupp has turned into just as much of a joke as Schmo Scarborough.
Eddie Scarry is nothing more than a Jonathan Strong type, the former disgrace that left The Daily Caller.
If Cupp is the future of the GOP, lord help this country. When Marco Rubio peddled his GOP Amnesty proposal to Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh without opposition or even followup criticism, I knew the GOP left me. I am no longer a Republican, although I would never vote for a liberal of any kind no matter if it’s a D or R next to their name, but I can’t support a party that panders to the liberals who hate them while supporting the liberals destroying the party from within. I can’t support a party that makes the Conservatives go to the back of the bus through anti-Conservative bundlers like Karl Rove. There are 10 issues that mean more than most, the GOP of 2013 are failing on half of them. Leading the way are phonies like Chris Christie. Once the GOP turns into the party of Colon Powell, Arlen Specter, Charlie Crist, John McCain, Scott Brown, Lisa Murkowski and Chris Christie… who needs Democrats with so-called Republicans like them?
Top it all off with Joe Scarborough and S.E. Cupp as the talking heads of the party with reps and leader of the caliber mentioned above… it’s permanently over.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 7:53pmSE, we are not irrational or herd-like so we are constantly calling out the so “party heavyweights”; I don’t even know what or who you are talking about. If you are referring to the likes of Rush, Glenn, Mark, Sean, etc, they are generally the only ones looking at things from a constitutional point of view thus don’t need much calling out.
Obviously if you were referring to politicians like Speaker Boehner, Senators Graham or McCain, then absolutely, call these RINOS what they are. And we do. Our radio friends on the other hand usually represent our feelings and sensibilities, so we aren’t (and have no need) defending them, they are defending us.
I find your premise fundamentally incorrect and your use of Rush in making your point unfair and unjust to him, and damaging to your credibility.

Step up to the plate and call out Rush. Let’s hear from you where he’s wrong. I’ve got news for the these so called “conservatives”. Republicans are loosing because they are Democrat lite. There is nothing wrong with the conservative message. The problem is Republicans who blow with the wind, go along to get along so they can be liked. kind of like you S.E Cupp. With friends like you, who needs enemies. Get off my side please.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 5:19amCALL OUT RUSH LIMBAUGH? How about echoing him? Stop the nonsense with these two being “conservative.” With so much nonsense constantly coming from the left, how does one find time to think an unfavorable Rush quote could even be worth focussing on? You’re conservative? You have the countries best interest in mind? Then focus on the nonstop garbage the left is constantly spewing. The material is endless.

SE Cupp is surrounding by progressives who are intent on destroying America through lies and distortions and she wants to attack Rush Limbaugh?
SE Cupp does not speak for me and now she can go to hell…

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 11:30pmS.E. we don’t have enough problems with liberals, you have to go after conservatives? Has the heat been too hot for you? You and Joe deserve each other. Joe abandoned the cause years ago, why team up with him? Romney was no conservative. McCain and both Bushes were not conservatives. Your too young to remember what Reagan tried to do and the compromises he made to democrats that even he later regretted. Conservatism has never really gotten a chance to govern since Coolidge. And if you watched Glenn Beck, that is what gave us the roaring twenties. It’s been downhill ever since.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 11:12pmScarborough and Cupp see the writing on the wall for the conservative movement. But, as comments on this page reveal, the idiots who comprise the GOP and its base will never understand the direction of this country and quite frankly, its great for america. You fools will continue to marginalize yourselfs until even the GOP drops you off and then, tea party conservatism will go the way of the segregationists. If you guys think the problem is that the GOP aren’t conservative of “constitutionalist” enough, then I dare you to nominate an even more conservative person than Romney. That 206 electoral votes you guys got (in a crappy economy, might I remind you) will look like a decent amount.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 11:23pmChallenge accepted. What is that liberal Republicans and democrats have given us in this country that’s so damn great? 16 trillion in debt? 9% unemployment? A devalued currency? Abortion? What is that you are defending? “True American” socialist? Come on I dare you to come up with a list of the great accomplishments of democrats and liberal republicans. All us tea party people are saying is that the constitution was an inspired model of government for America and it has been abandoned. And for what? Exactly? I await you snarky but unresponsive reply.

You would have to be a sheep your self to think they are conservatives.
Obviously Eddie Scarry is a liberal/progressive or just dumb/sheep to suggest that ether of the two are “the most prominent conservatives in media”.
Whats next “Obama is one of the most accurate & knowledgeable constitutional scholar”?
Who are you trying to fool Eddie Scarry?

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 7:20pmI don’t know any real conservative media personality who defends everything a fellow CMP says or does. Everyone disagrees at some point. The only thing that I can take from this is that both Joe and S.E. are basically alluding to the fact that Conservatives have to adapt to the changing times just to win political points and elections. I’m sorry but doesn’t your boss, Glenn Beck, continuously talk about not ever compromising your values and principles? Why does everything we conservatives do have to be about politics? Can you just stop with the “adapt” speech? You want to know why the right has been doing poorly in recent elections? It’s partly because the people do not trust the GOP, as well as because they want their entitlement stuff and Obama gives it to them, so they vote for him. Perhaps we should bring back the culture and morality and focus MUCH less time on politics. This is what is destroying us! And if you were not talking about compromising Conservative values, then what were you talking about? Because again, I don’t know any real conservative who blindly follows the right even when they make a mistake. Please give us a real example of what you are talking about, instead of trying to sound “smart” like your fellow liberal colleagues.

They can take their progressive opinions and go cram it. They are speak of details because they are just using talking point of progressive media and are repeating their propaganda.

Which is media-speak for “refuses to apologize.”
SE’s very intelligent, I’ll give her that. But a true conservative? I don’t know. It’s weird how I feel about that. Gut instinct tells, not so much. And I WANTED to like her because of Glenn. But there was always something that held me back.
Not an arrogance, per se, but certainly lacking humility.
As for attacking Rush, in essence, she was attacking those of us who like him (or at the least, appreciate the path he’s blazed). Now she’s telling us older conservatives (and I’m in my early 40s) that our ideas are old and tired, and to move out of the way.
Sorry. I’m here to tell you that I am NOT an SE Cupp fan.

Can’t wait to see Joe Puddles here try to carve out a small space within the Republican Party. Not gonna happen Joe so your best shot for office is to convince as many fellow LIV’s on MSNBC as possible to check that box. Get real Mr. and Mrs. Puddles and simply switch parties. How difficult is that? Joe here is going to garner a lot of Prog votes in 2016 because those are the only ones that take him seriously and the joke is…they don’t.
